The title is unashamedly 'click bait' but it worked because you're reading this!

I spotted a huge *model* QF A380 in someone's backyard, right under the flight path on approach to ADL (from the North East).

Ok, own up.... which of you is running a not so subtle campaign to get an A380 to ADL ?

It would be nice just to get a small international Q plane into ADL. :(. Thats why their current promo 'take me home' peeved me.

Bloody click-bait. ;)

At least you guys get international flights full stop. For us CBR'ns we need to travel to SYD (or MEL / BNE) for any international flights.

OzEire, you got any photos of the A380 model?

But that has always been the case. Ours were removed.

Flying out of Adelaide today. Back Thursday. Location?

No, it hasn't. There has been a number of international flights to CBR in the past. Mainly to South Pacific islands and some charters to NZ. Customs maintains a presence at the airport, although they are based on the RAAF side of the airfield. The new terminal has space set aside for international flights and only needs someone to announce they'll start service for the airport to fit out the area.

No. It went by too quickly, I fumbled for the phone but missed it.

Just to the right of the approach path for a landing toward the South East, on finals about 20 sec from touchdown. When I get home I will try to fix a position using Jeppsson, FR24 and Google Earth.

There were two A380's diverted to Adl last week I believe.
Would the model have been the lego one that was in the Mel QP last year or was it bigger do you think.

Maybe, but hard to see clearly through foggy glass and Perspex at about 3-400 feet up.

It just about filled this person's little backyard. I'd say the wingspan was about the same size as a Hills Hoist.

Left or right side of the aircraft?

20 seconds from touchdown would be somewhere around thebarton or closer, most likely west of south road.
