Hey there all,

just wondering if anyone else checks what their FF program gives them in points versus what they should actually get. Just flew the family from Bogota Colombia (BOG) to Cancun Mexico (CUN) on LAN, crediting to their LANPASS FF accounts, and when I checked what points they got they were given only 1141 km (LAN works on km, not miles).

I know "for a fact" that BOG-CUN is a 3+ hr flight, which I believe is about 2272km. WTF?? I double checked previous flights such as SYD-SCL and SCL-BOG and they were credited correctly.

I will call LAN to seek explanation, as this was their flight that should have taken them to OW emerald, but it made me think, I have never ever checked this sort of thing before. Has anyone else discovered such incorrect mileages given??

I'm not familiar with LANPASS earning table, but do they have fare class earning only 50% of distance (which seems to be your case)?

defurax, will check that - I am not sure. They got a 100% bonus for being LAN Premium Silver (OW sapphire - equivalent to QFF Gold), but if you are right that could make sense. Thanks :)

Then it would make sense as the base earn is 25% according to this table for regional South America fare: How to earn kms. - LAN.com

Dang! Thanks to defurax just studied the LAN site better and it appears that may explain it. Dang! Dang! Dang! :)

will retreat to my cave, flying tail between my legs, for the shame of not seeing something so obvious. Feel like I am Bronze again :O

please, can a mod delete or at least close this thread, before anyone else witnesses my "newbie" error? :(

OTOH, once upon a time, AA had a web page that incorrectly stated the EQP that would be received for a particular fare class :( on a partner airline. Alas I flew on that airline in that class so I would be a couple of hundred EQP over the re-qualifying limit.

First response, can't be a problem. Second response, I'll look at the web page. Third response, IT is fixing the web page. Fourth response, oh, you want the originally published credit? Do you have copies of the original page?

Perhaps just as well I had just made LTG and am way too old to consider LTP with AA. It was time consider alternative FF programs.

Did I get the original credit? Yes, after I had already taken the back up flight (all the discussions were in early December in AA's calendar year program).

So, the short answer is to always ensure you understand the crediting rules for the fare classes you are flying... even if the airline's IT group does not.

Happy wandering

Fred

Although you've got your answer, Im a yes to checking miles and points.

Because I forget things a week or so after a flight/hotel, I keep a spreadsheet with estimated points v's actual points.
