Sydney Airport has just announced this afternoon:

This new service will operate on a 335 seat Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, adding 245,000 seats per year. "

Daily flights between Doha and Sydney from 1 March 2016 (all times local)
Depart Doha at 20:10, arrive Sydney at 18:05 (next day)
Depart Sydney at 22:20, arrive Doha at 05:05 (next day)

I'll post a link once they put the media announcement on the Website

Re: Qatas Airways set to fly to SYD from 01 March 2016

Typo in the title. I thought their CEO said he'd never fly to SYD whilst it had a curfew.

Whilst their 777 business product is good their 787 business is excellent wish they would fly that here.

He did. But I guess the opportunity to expand was enough to backtrack on his words.

If the load is good maybe they can send a A380 as well?

Great news. QR have a fantastic J product. Will the 777ER have F service too?

No. Unless it's a brand new aircraft.
All QR's current B777's are two class only, as are their 787s.
Their only 3 class aircraft are the A388, A346, some of their A333s and some of their A332s.
They do have another 10 B777s on order but I don't know how they will be configured.
However they have current B777s with 335 seats in a 42/293 layout so it seems unlikely that a three class config could have the same total.

And a small poke in the eye for the QF/EK partnership. What with the crude oil price currently 30% lower than the country needs to balance it's Budget, and it's Soverign Wealth Fund having taken a 34% hit in its Volkswagen investment in the past year (it is the third largest investor in the German car manufacturer owning 17%), at least they have the football World Cup to look forward to....or do they?

Dupe thread (mods.....) but:

For me personally QR is the best J class I have ever flown long haul. I have flown all major carriers (ex-Aus) within the last 3 years or so.

Yep if they want to compete with EY/VA they should start sending their latest J product over - B787, A359 or A388 - with the 1-2-1 seating. Currently all PER, MEL and now SYD flights are 77W with older 2-2-2 layout in J.

Whoever said they should put on the A380, too soon? No? MEL would probably deserve them first ;)

QR will be phasing out F on its other aircraft besides the A380's, which will be the only aircraft to have an F cabin. New aircraft will only b configured in a 2 cabin configuration.

Good move by QR. I hope award seats will become easier to book. Currently it's hard to find J availability ex MEL.

Past days did CDG/DOH/PER on QR, fantastic J class seat, food and service A1, Mrs Lime & self were very impressed.

Funny that - so did I! Here is some of the food being served - was wonderful! Krug served in the bar on the A380! And don't forget the 40 year old Port. This is how business class meals should be.IMG_0900.jpgIMG_0907.jpgIMG_0902.jpgIMG_0908.jpg

Great news and long overdue! Hopefully they launch BNE too and would love to get the A350 or A380 to MEL :)

They can't do BNE without moving something or getting another increase to the air services agreement.
They had maxed out the 14 weekly flights allowed to Qatar under the Qatar-Australia air services agreement with PER and MEL. That agreement has recently been increased to 21 weekly flights.
Main thing I see here is QR's backflip on their protest of the SYD curfew.

This is great news. Add on a 16 hour flight to Houston and you have one hell of a long way round to the US, but a very comfy long way round in J.

Very happy with this news, Great to have another OW option to Europe, especially for redemptions. Flew DOH-PVG J last year and very impressed with the quality of service.

Another late night departure ex SYD is a bonus. Finish work early, head home, final packing, head to airport and dinner in lounge. Board flight enjoy champagne & meal (if still hungry), then off to sleep in the clouds is my ideal way to start a holiday ðŸ
