Just received an email from a client who needs me to do a (very) tight photoshoot in Vietnam next month. I'm leaning towards J* simply because it leaves from BKK and previous experience with them on the BKK-SGN and SGN-HAN route was fine. (Not outstanding, but for the short trips, no problem). Plus I'll also get some (meagre) SCs and points for my pain.

Had a look online to book the following and hit a hurdle with this itinerary:

BKK-SGN D15:25 A17:05 14/09
SGN-DAD D05:15 A06:35 15/09
DAD-HAN D14:00 A15:20 15/09
HAN-BKK D11:10 A13:00 16/09

Seems they need at least 26 hours between flights if I try to book the first two sectors in one booking, and likewise for the following two sectors. I can beat that booking restriction easily enough (book separately), but will it be an actual problem once I get there, if I try to fly inside their 26hr demand?

I'm thinking not as they'll be separate bookings, but wondered if anyone has had experience with this and if so how they got around it?

This actual policy os Jetstar wide, and happens even if you tried to dom, say MEL-SYD-CNS same day using the multi city tool. Your only option is to do it on separate bookings, and when I have discussed his with Jetstar they advised to make sure you had at least 2 hours for a somestic and 3 hours for an inernational connection. Downside is that you're still on your own if things go wrong.

They are odd times. I always prefer 1PRN for obvious delay reasons

Yes, I prefer 1 as well, but sometimes that isn't always possible with some of the crazy routings I have to organise here.

That I didn't know (I fly J* rarely), but at least it's good to know I can wrangle the flights by booking separately and there aren't going to be hassles. Will be more than 2 hrs between connections domestically, so I'm definitely not going to have any problems there, thankfully.

And yes, that downside is one I'll have to bear, although the previous time I flew with them Internationally out of AU to Bali, it was booked through a TA and they didn't want anything to do with the problem that arose. I had to do the chasing up myself to rectify (at the checkin desk) - their staff couldn't have been more hostile and unhelpful if they'd tried.

I can't help with the JQ problem, but QR fly in and out of HAN from BKK which may be a better option 'if things go wrong'.

Thanks Jessica - I'll check them as well; finally got updates on the shoots so now have a much better scope for flights. :)
