I thought I was going slow. join 1996. LTS in around 2012 or 2013. Just cracked 10000 SC, 19 years after joining.

Ah yes if only there was credit for Ansett travel. Joined February 2002. I'm roughly guessin it was in 2012 or 2013 got past LTS. WHEN The JASA WERE IN VOGUE.....

punched LTG out in 10 years.

Crazy that you can potentially reach LTS/LTG and never have any status before you hit lifetime.

This is actually quite an interesting thread from the F/JASA point of view. They were killed off because pax were obtaining status too cheaply/quickly/easily/??? yet here we see AFF members who used F/JASAs (myself included) but have taken/are taking 20+ years to obtain LTS, nevermind LTG.

Yes. But some of us were still late starters.

So far it's' taken me almost 29 years to amass a total of 6,372 status credits so I should've knocked off the additional 628 required by 11 Sep 2016 which will be my 30 year date of joining anniversary.

So that would make you about 40 years old then ?
:-)

LTP ???? (Hanging out for that one  )
Yes it would be a game changer for many if it was introduced and at a level that is achievable - I think BA want 35,000 SCs for the equivalent. Won't hold my breath waiting to find out what "Never" means in Qantas speak!

Lifetime Platinum? Qantas? Hahaha.

It had taken me just over 10 years to reach Lifetime Gold. A lot sooner than I ever expected I could get there. Lots of cheap SCs unlikely to be seen again.

I took less than eight years from zero to LTG with work travel, JASAs and the odd DSC. Now they've all finished I'm not sure how much longer I'll be WP. But it's been a fun ride and who knows what the future holds.

Agree the ride has been fun and it is still fun for me even though Gold and Platinum are getting closer each day.

Looks kike I will only earn ~800 SCs this membership year but will still push to retain Platinum by 31 May 2016.

I'm due to get LTS in 2 months, so it's good to know I'll have life time free exit row seats with a competitor airline (until they change the rules).
