Drron, that sounds terrible. MrLtL's cousin from the UK had time share in Valetta some years ago and visited each year. Think he may have traded it in for Barbados. Certainly we saw lots of rubbish and commented on it at the time. Valetta makes a great port stop on a cruise as it is easy as a DIY and had some wonderful sites. My brother loves the place and has been several times without incident; maybe just lucky.

Back to Malta. We had a very good friend who when in Malta got very ill.Got rapidly evacuated to London and was diagnosed as an encephalitis presumably viral.Left him with lots of problems but especially no balance. He and his wife also loved travel but that was the end of their travelling days.He died this year roughly 10 years after that episode.
Always wanted to visit Malta but guess it will have to be on a cruise.

Can highly recommend that. Even though 45c everyone loved it.

Kayaking was fabulous. The ship had to move out during the morning so it passed us. Had to use underwater camera so need to transfer over some photos.

Re: Chasing the lads in Lycra down the Champs Elysees - and other fancy places to exp

This was the reason we had to relocate. Our itinerary was changed last year to accommodate a charter cruise from Atlantis. Will never book a tour that precedes an Atlantis charter again. We had 6 days of code red but did not hear of one person ill, our balcony got painted even though we said no, (the code red was enough!); the gym was closed for a day and our favourite deck was closed again last night so they could sand down the tables. They want everything pristine for the charter. We went to guest services last night to express our disapproval at how this cruise was being compromised. The staff at the buffet had indicated subtly that the charter was the reason. Of course they denied it but we felt we needed to make the point that people were becoming aware and talking around the ship.
I'll transfer my photos tomorrow from the waterproof but here are some I took on the lifeboat.

That's poor Pushka. I do hope that you're still enjoying it.

We are - and we have another drink to ensure it. Last night we hit the wall - I think 3 weeks of wine and food and I just couldn't finish the Pouilly Fume which I love. And we'd only had two glasses. Oops. Forgot the baileys on the balcony at 4pm

We are in Corfu today and visited extensively last trip. So we are still onboard and have the ship to ourselves. Bliss.

Opened the curtains this morning to this view - NCL something and immediately closed them again.

Last night's dinner was in a speciality restaurant - Murano. Very plush.

This foam mushroom risotto was wonderful. Best dish of the cruise so far.

MrP's scallop.

Is Murano still serving its lobster tail cooked at the table? I remember it from our last cruise, quite tasty from memory. The food is looking good - always amazes me given the number of diners they are serving.

Laughing. The only port we have had to scan our seapass is Corfu - and as a result the queue to get back on the ship - 3 ships in port - is huge. As if people want to STAY in Greece!

Sorry Dame. Precious internet time so I just post heaps at once.

Re: Chasing the lads in Lycra down the Champs Elysees - and other fancy places to exp

I was just starting to think cruises sounded awful, given all the problems you were having, but the food pictures changed my mind. Haven't been on a cruise as yet - saving it for when we become even more decrepit.

Flying Mermaid - cruising is a great way to see various places then you decide if you want to do a land tour. We aren't old and decrepit - Med cruises are hot and challenging so don't wait too long. MrP hated cruises until we did a Med one.

Speaking of food. In Blu they make your own muesli at the table.

Our problem is we don't feel we have enough travelling years left to us to do it slowly and go back again. We have a list of "hard" things we want to do like the Gorillas in Rwanda etc and it is a bit of a race to do it all before our knees give out. :) We have put cruises on the back burner for later on - food does look very nice and it all sounds much more relaxing than what we normally do.
