First impression of SQ J. Very nice. 14A and 15A. 12 hours of bliss.

Ok. My thoughts about SQ. I have only ever travelled in Y with them and always classed them as the benchmark. Meals very enjoyable and great service.
This trip. Service was good. No issues there. The flat bed when asleep was pretty comfortable. The champagne was Taittinger and plentiful. They had good wines and a wonderful milo and baileys drink. Yum.
Meal service was quick and promising with a satay starter.

Yummy. But nothing to scrape up the satay sauce.
Next out, a salad of sorts. Tasty.

I ordered the lamb dish.

In a word. Inedible. Smelly even. Fatty. Slimy. I took one bite of the lamb and the smell of it turned my stomach. The potatoes were hard. I had to cover it up until it was removed. I was offered another choice but declined. I was actually waiting for people to become unwell from tainted food.

The seat was weird. It had limited recline and very little leg raise. In order to turn it into a bed the attendant had to push down the back of the seat and that became the bed base. Once down it was fine though.

Large TV's for watching movies. I watched 3. I think I slept for about three hours. Another overnight flight tonight - but will be eating in the lounge first....

It certainly does not look appetising - and it sounds like it tasted like it looked. :(

Pity about the main course - it was all sounding good until then!

That salad doesn't present very well...

Maybe it's a dressing but the prosciutto looks like it is covered in gravy. Probably tasted OK though unlike the main course.

Which reminds me, what came after that P? Was there dessert or cheese?

This was desert. A pre packaged icecream.

There was a balsamic dressing on the prosciutto. I wonder what will be in store tonight...

Hopefully something tasty! (well at least edible). The Tiramisu looked rather underwhelming.

Gross is the word! Looks like something from Alien...sprinkled with chocolate. SQ doesn't look/sound very appealing.

Proper spicy food. Haven't had a meal since Saturday night and it is now Monday night. Just grabbed a toasted sandwich for lunch today.

Great spot for a cuppa. Tea and coffee on the flight was lukewarm

We have just changed seats. Mr P might regret

Its a lovely lounge. Quiet and peaceful. Actually terminal 3 is peaceful. First visit to this one - it is usually one of the chaotic ones.

The prices at Crowne Plaza were eye watering. $9 plus 10% service fee for glass of coke. $6 for water. We went back into the airport for lunch.

Enjoyed the HK segment, especially your reference to Lantau Island. I went to Lantau Island last year and saw Buddha - and then had the grand idea of climbing to the peak on the island. Going up was bad enough, but I had to run down after I got to the top as the sun was going down - just managed to make it back in time to be the very last tourist off the island on the cable car that night!

A bit disappointing so far - we will almost definitely fly SQ F when we go to Singapore next year (with a possible side trip to the US if Master Fm is still there). Hope the food is better than this. Was book the cook available on this flight Pushka?

Apparently Book the cook isn't available from Rome? And the food coming from Singapore looked much better. I think it is just a poorly serviced sector, starting with the rank lounge that only had 2 female toilets. Ended up using the men's room as the queue in the lounge was ridiculous.

Sounds awful - mind you I wasn't at all impressed with Qantas' Rome staff either, so maybe a function of the city/sector as you suggest. You wonder whether any airline has heard of quality control of their product!
