Etihad will apply a carrier charge on their GuestSeat from July 8. $50 per sector in Economy $100 in Business and $150 First might apply to bookings from AA too?

I need to book flights to Europe next year but the seat wont open until a few weeks after July 8. Should I take the risk and make a booking before July 8 and change later?
Etihad says if we make a booking before July 8 and change later, we wont be impacted. The terms and conditions at the time of booking will remain in force.

I'm not quite sure what terms and conditions AA uses.

Thanks smit0847. That's good to hear. I thought it would be similar BA Carrier Imposed Surcharges

most US carriers don't pass on fuel surcharges... for example booking a Qantas flight via Aadvantage is fuel surcharge free.

AA only passes on charges for BA and IB at the moment.

I called AA to enquire about EY J award seats. Despite them being available as the cheapest guest seats at ey.com, AA told me they 'hadnt been released yet'.

HUACA?

Can't see any A380 First Class availability all the way from now through April next year in GuestFirst on the Etihad website from SYD-AUH. There is availability in the more expensive point wise categories, but no GuesFirst which is what AA can book. Hope they come back.

Also AUH-LHR has also gone on the A380 in First.

I wonder if it's specific to the 388 or if it's all F.
Have you checked the 789 to BNE ?

Since the AA "glitch" was fixed most Guest awards to AUS magically disappeared. I'm pretty sure not all were booked in less then 12 hours. Not sure what's going on but it's not looking good.

I don't believe the *glitch* to be fixed, even though Ben and VFTW are saying it is.

There is a recommendation that you add an extra zero to your post code for an Australian address. I did have an initial hiccup when my booking process was halted with a red message stating my locality wasn't recognised, and doing this did the trick. Just a few days ago I was lucky enough to obtain 2 F seats LHR - SIN in mid July at a cost of 70K each. Initially, I had the booking open in my AA account with the 2 seats available, and did as advised on their web site for international or complex bookings and called them to book the seats for me. The operator in Fiji could not see the availability that I had in front of me, and advised that I complete the booking online. 30 minutes later it was all done and dusted.

I was just checking my existing EY F booking using AA miles and went to select seats on the EY site under my Guest log-in and the EY Record Locator. It found the booking, but no can select seats - "problem with payment". I'm not concerned about that, though.

But then I went to enter my passport, e-mail and phone details. I selected '61 Australia' as the international phone code and it keeps confirming as '61 - Cocos and keeling Islands' :)

That's a worry, though they are part of Australia. I had something similar on the QF web site where the country code 61 was nominated as Afghanistan!

You cannot usually select seats online with EY for bookings made through AA miles however there is a hack around this.
I've tried it and it does work.

How To Select Etihad Seats Online - One Mile at a Time

Thanks :) . Unfortunately no-go for me. After doing stage 3 (changing the URL), I get a "Technical Error .. please phone Etihad ...". I guess its the phone for me. No biggie.
