Hi Crew, long time follower, first time poster.

Quick query - I have recently achieved Gold Status, and have an existing Qantas Club membership which still has about 6 months validity. Will my residual membership be held over until I time I may lose Gold Status, or is it refunded, or have a effectively paid for 6 months of unnecessary membership?

Appreciate your kind and expert advice!

Firstly welcome aboard Donuts and congratulations on achieving SG status.

If you ever lose that status your existing Qantas Club membership will resume. Hopefully you'll be at a high level for a long time.

Don't ever, ever go back! I still have a credit from about 15 years ago (paid for by my then work :)) that is now QF's to keep, even if - shudder - I lose WP, as I'm now LTG (x >2x). Don't say I don't help the bottom line .

Going to pursue them for a pro rata refund in true DYKWIA style??? ;)

whilst not strictly on topic, I noticed when I logged into the QF site today that it says: "Good Afternoon, Mr GPH Member since April 1988". yet my membership year ends on the 31st August. Have I missed something?

Have you ever had partner status?

Surely GPH you are an experienced enough flyer to not try to apply logic to FF and airline systems??!!!

I had a 2 year QC membership which was suspended 6 months in due to Gold membership being achieved. 6.5 years later unfortunately it got reactivated :(

Ah, a not for profit, tax deduction maybe....

No, not at all. It was so long ago I can't recall how long I signed up for QP membership (3 years?, 5 years? - whatever multi-year deals were/are on offer) and then how long into that I went through SG and then rapidly on to WP (maybe 1-2 years), where I've been ever since - and LTG has overtaken any backslide anyway.

It was literally something that just slipped by.

There may be 1-3 years paid membership donated to helping to keep QF afloat.
