Redroo what is the stance of QF on Y passengers coming through the curtain and using the toilets in J?

I see on some flights Y passengers are sent packing and others flights they don't say boo

I am sure a search on previous threads will show you the type of topic this is - kind of like thongs in the QP etc.

If you're flying VA BNE -> AKL you should expect an even more pedestrian experience. From the delights of the NZ BNE lounge to the variable cabin service - and the wines, let's not talk about the wines :(

Suggest if you want a premium TT experience, try EK, book the QF code if you want the SCs. EK > QF > VA, in TT J.

I would agree with you from past experience but a colleague recently returned on VA's new J class from AKL to SYD and was glowing in its praise - there was a continuous snack service as well as a great meal ( according to him) and certainly not a pedestrian wine offering.

This is why I am going with VA just to see what they are like.

I agree that EK has a good name and J prices cheap at the moment - AUD 680 each way.( as long as their one flight per day fits in with your plans).

Also the NZ 773 operates BNE-AKL daily which is definitely ahead of the QF/VA narrowbody products.

The NZ BNE lounge is needing the refurb coming later this year.

Try a widebody - either EK or NZ, and you'll not fly TT on a 737 again, schedule permitting. The NZ lounge in BNE is way past its use-by date 0- as it stands at the moment, you're better off in the terminal. The EK lounge is pretty good in both BNE and AKL.

Adding NZ to the mix, EK > NZ Widebody > QF > NZ A320 > VA 737

Though I'll grant that there's not much to pick between any of the narrow-bodies - they're all best avoided if possible :)

The reason I rate EK so highly is a mixture of the lounges, the A380 (the dedicated First and J upper-deck with a bar) and the good wine - generally a cut above all of the other operators. I'm not a massive fan of the EK food ex AKL though. In terms of recent experience, I flew QF J over to AKL, EK F back two weeks ago. I last flew VA TT last year but in Y, sitting directly behind J. It did not look impressive.

Thanks for that - I hope that i will be flying on the refurbished VA J class aircraft rather than their previous Premium Economy which I assume you refer to .

You're right, of course it was still the old PE, looks like TT J only launched this year. Will be interested in your report, however even my QF J flight was an abberation (I wanted some time in the Sydney F lounge); widebodies rock :)
