Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Re: General Qantas Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

QF12 has been rescheduled to 10.30am - a 12 hour delay. I assume either QF11 or 93 will turnaround immediately to operate the delayed QF12 and hopefully they can repair the engine in time for tomorrow night's flights back to Australia.

Further to this, tomorrow's QF7 to DFW is also delayed 7.5 hrs for a 2130 departure. The delayed QF12 is estimated to arrive in at 7.10pm, so this aircraft will go on to DFW.

QF fly safely but the do not have spare planes when the planes go tech. 12 A380s have had issues so old 747s get used as an alternative which messes up special seat selections. The 747 crews are lovely but it can be disappointing to not get what you booked.

Re: General Qantas Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

The Wednesday 1 April 2015 QF9 departed MEL 101 minutes late at 0136 on Thursday 2 April due to the late arrival of QF10. However it diverted to MCT instead of going straight to DXB as usual. The MCT stop was from 0810 to 0930, the DXB stop from 1010 to 1233 - a bit longer than allowed - with LHR arrival at 1831 instead of 1350, still in good time to form QF2. Probably because it is Good Friday, www.theqantassource is silent on the matter but can we surmise that it was due to weather in DXB?

This may be the first time that a QF Airbus A388 has been to Muscat.

Thursday 2 April's QF10 is a forecast 42 minutes late into MEL this evening, so the 2355 departure of QF9 is delayed until an anticipated 0030. Often this flight can make up time but these behind schedule departures are not that unusual. Improved aircraft utilisation is a good thing as it is important that airlines make profits to become or stay sustainable, but tight turnarounds have the potential to delay passengers through no fault of their own. This is a downside of QF's inexorable wish to improve productivity given that as with many airlines it has not been making sufficient money in recent years, notwithstanding the dramatic drop in the recent price of oil that at present is seeing profits roll in the door.

Re: General Qantas Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

I have since received an email from Customer Care regarding the delay to my flight.
The email contained a link to the Feedback form which I have now submitted with a request for the scheduled compensation subject to EC 261/2004.
As my flight was a personal, individual expense I'm not sure how employer funded travel would work for seeking the requisite compensation.
Hi Princess Fiona, I would be interested in how you get on with your claim. I have got my daughter, who's was booked on QF2 on the 30th, to submit a claim as well.
It also left me out of pocket as well as I had booked a room at Rydges Airport Hotel since I had to drive up from Canberra to meet her off her flight that was due in at 6:10am. Despite having a flexible booking and calling the night before the hotel said it was too late to cancel :(

I'll definitely report back when I hear from them. Interestingly I discovered after I submitted my claim that EC 261/2004 is actually covered in some depth in the QF Conditions of Carriage.

As the sole QF flight from LAX to SYD on Good Friday (3 April 2015), the 2355 hours departure of QF18 was delayed until 0338 LAX time, a few minutes ago, making it unlikely to arrive in SYD tomorrow morning much before 1000. B744 VH_OJT is the operating aircraft. Both the Brisbane and Melbourne-bound flights departed pretty much on schedule so it doesn't appear to have been a delay with the flight ex JFK.

QF12 also operated on Good Friday.

Re: General Qantas Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

On its first day of non daylight saving time operation ex SYD, QF129, the 0935 to PVG was delayed until 1153. Flightradar24.com - Live flight tracker! is not yet showing which A330 is operating this delayed flight but VH-EBM has just begun to taxi.

Inevitably, tonight's QF130 ex PVG will be late. Depending on the roster, it may delay another QFi flight ex SYD tomorrow morning.

QPJ is just taking off as QF129

Re: General Qantas Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

Thank you mannej. Do you know why it was delayed - I couldn't see any A330 international QF flight that was significantly late this morning.

QPJ arrived in as QF6 at 9.28am. Must have been a switch of aircraft due to operational reasons.

QF35 is delayed 6 hrs today leaving at 5:45pm. Aircraft is QPD.

Aweful experience flying Dubai to Melbourne no service quality, stuff thrown at you and tea tainted with disregard that I dare request without teabag

Re: General Qantas Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

Because QF35 is a forecast six hours late and yet to depart MEL for SIN (with an expected arrival at 2340), QF52 from SIN to BNE will also be badly late, with a suggested 0100 departure from SIN instead of its normal 2050 and BNE arrival on Easter Monday, 6 April 2015 at 1010 instead of 0615.

UPDATE: QF35 did not take off until 1837 and hence will not be in SIN until about midnight, probably delaying QF52 even more.

QF35 is now not arriving SIN until 0025 on Monday morning, 6 April 2015 so for passengers travelling on QF52 the retimed 0140 departure means an even longer wait.

Re: General Qantas Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

Anyone know what happened at Syd today? A bunch of planes diverted to bne including qf8 and 2x United 777s. Looks like they unloaded and ferried onwards on domestic. An incident / traffic, or just headwinds/fuel?

Re: General Qantas Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

Sydney fog has caused the diversions this morning.
