Ok everyone. Time to come clean. Status runners should consider putting " % status run" against their airline status in their profiles.

I wonder who has the highest % of status run SC to nonstatus run SC

zero % here for status runs...though did one for the boss at easter last year for her to qualify for gold for first time....i was merely the baggage handler of course

And those who have their airfares paid by companies should also have a special designation?

And yes, I did ONE once to OOL with my girlfriend for the weekend. But we went away for the weekend so it doesn't really count anymore ;)

Status runs! Hobby runs! Unnecessary sector runs!

And then sometimes I have to be somewhere.

All part of the fun.

Well unlike the purist, my status runs include some kind of break , holiday or excuse to see clients.
By current Bali escapade is in truth a status run.

If I'm going to 'run' somewhere I turn it into a mini vacation, then it doesn't count so much.

Havnt done one for a while maybe 18 months. Might get close to platinum again this year so maybe a quick run to singapore later in the year to tip me over

Out of my 16K+ SC, sadly only ~ 1,400 have been from DSC, ASA or SC runs ... all of that since becoming a member of AFF. Would never have thought or known what a ASA or SC run was prior to joining the club!

In the next 3 months SWMBO & I will earn ~ 1,400SC each via F/JASA :D AFF - You Bloody Beauty!

My only pure status run was for 580SCs (during a DSC promo) via a domestic JASA in 2012- I did visit my friend in Canberra for 2 nights, with a return trip to ADL during the day.

A self funded work trip with SQ (crediting to VA) to HKG was kind of a SC run, as I chose BNE-SIN-HKG rather than a cheaper direct flight with QF or CX - to shore up my VA WP last year.

Others where status credits tipped the decision were a JASA (rather than Classic) to Europe, and a WT+ trip with BA to LHR (instead of Y) - before simpler and fairer.

All up around 1300 SCs I would not have - thanks mostly to the collective wisdom here. ;)

I don't try to explain this aspect of decision making around flight choices to Mrs Aus ATC.....

Mine is at 21% of 7000SC.
If thats of any "help".
I dont have an employer or anyone to pay for the trips on QF or VA, so my climb is very slow.
Not of my SC run chases are for work.

104 Flights per year for work (roughly $35,000 per year) 2400 sc's
I'de say about 10-15 flights for holidays/trips per year, it's these flights that put me over 3600 sc's for the year to maintain P1, i guess you can count them as status runs, but get a holiday out of it too :)

When's her next trip? :)

My P1 year was the result of a status run, but I'm not sure that makes it any less valid, I still had to use points and cash to get there. If we're going to talk validity of status, I think we should be noting how much is work funded (ie. not your dime)... as all of my travel has been entirely my burden, self funded! :p

Of my lifetime total (currently 11K) 720 of those are from one SC run.
That number will likely rise due to my second SC run in the planning for later this year.

0% status runs. WOOHOO... my Lifetime SC are only sitting around 150. (I only really travel very occasionally, when I can afford a damn holiday)

Great idea! Suggested tier levels :-

Status Agnostics - don't chase it in any way. More concerned with airfares and schedules than playing the status game.

Status coughs - covers most of us really. Strategically book real travel to maximise status earnings.

Status coughs - shamelessly fly purely to get their desired badge of honour. Find out how worthless this really is when they get RSA'd in the F-Lounge

Do we need more?
