Well that certainly piqued my curiosity when it came in my inbox:

Watched the video and clicked through to the offer. But I really don't have a special Points destination goal - I use points for upgrading any flight over two hours.

But what is your special Points Destination goal??

So I had to "make up" that I wanted to fly BNE/MEL return. Hope I still qualify for the draw.

Yeah - fairly lame promotion ... but who can turn up a one-in-a-million chance to win a million points, so of course I entered.

Destination - Glasgow
Passengers - 4
Reason - [This could be the clincher, I thought, so I said..] To take the family on a canal boat.

Only I didn't say this. Why, you ask? Because every time I typed the word "canal" it would immediately erase the text "cough".

No I'm not kidding - try it yourself! The most bizarre application of a profanity filter ever!!

After the Qantas Mall debacle I'm not bothering with any QF promotions any more. What's the point, they will just renege on the offer anyway.

I entered and chose LDH for a honeymoon... but of course already have the required amount of points for such a flight. I note the terms say 5 winners receiving 200,000 points worth $1400 each.

However I think I'm not worthy anymore considering that "cough boat in Glasgow" :p

To top off the romantic cough boat ride, maybe you could opt for a Glaswegian kiss?

Do you think that if you were to win 200K points toward a trip needing 280K , you could add the extra points needed? When does the flight/upgrade need to be taken by, I can't find that in the T&Cs?

Qantas 1,000.000 points "Points Destination" competition.

Can anyone make head or tail of this "promotion".

Well, that was one of the simplest & easiest competitions I've entered, only taking 90 seconds to enter.

I entered my dream destination with MEL > JFK return in J ...... For 256,000 points.

Fingers crossed.

Re: Qantas 1,000.000 points "Points Destination" competition.

I'm having trouble getting to the Qantas site to read the details of the competition.

Do we get to use the winning points on hotel accommodation and rental cars or will it only cover the plane tickets? I don't want to travel far but I want as many expenses as possible covered by points.

Re: Qantas 1,000.000 points "Points Destination" competition.

Sorry about that, although i did check to see if there was another thread. It still does not answer my question. When going through the steps, it seemed at the end as if I would have to make a booking with my existing points. I just don't get it. What's the point in nominating a destination?

Re: Qantas 1,000.000 points "Points Destination" competition.

As per Opusman, I knew it was not going to be a joyful experience but ok I clicked through and completed the destination etc and it told me "congratulations, you already have enough for two F to London. Click here to book." So, ok I though in for penny in for pound and why not. But as usual not only are there no F or J award flights but one has to frustratingly click through all the Y flights. Why the "Expletive Deleted" can't one just search for F & || J flights? Jeez.

I figure the competition is to nominate a destination. The maximum you can win is then 200,000 points. Extra points will need to be made up by yourself.

Could you spend a million points from Perth on international?

The competition allows you to select more than one person, so if you chose a premium class with enough people I'm sure you would, but you could only then win 200,000 points towards it.

You could, but this comp is only for 200K points.

Does anyone see when the prize needs to be taken by (if that doesn't end up on the bad grammar page here)? ;)

I didn't see anything.

Point 16 in the terms comes close, but that just governs how you can use points in general.

Each Prize is awarded and must be redeemed, in accordance with and subject to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program Terms and Conditions (qantas.com/terms), the Qantas Store Terms of Use [Link to - https://store.qantas.com/termsofuse.a2], voucher terms and conditions (including expiry rules) and any other terms and conditions disclosed at the time of redemption.
