Hey guys,

With the Status Run Spreadsheet I've been slowly working my way through the backlog (Work had blocked Google docs). The sheet is a bit out of date as it stands so if anyone wants to chip in updating the useful sections please jump in! I should be able to process new applications in a more timely fashion now 1-2 business days.

Can I remind everyone of the following
- Please include your email in the PM HEADER and BODY (this means less clicks for me and therefor easier processing)
- Access will only be granted to members who have been registered for more than about 3 months and who have at least a few dozen posts (lurkers get involved in your forum! :p)
- Requests made via email (ie. by making a request directly from the doc) will be ignored as I have no way to validate you against a forum username.
- Please don't send multiple PMs or request a read receipt. I'll get to your request as soon as I can.

Cheers

Hi all
On top of my booked trips I will need 75 SCs to maintain SG by June 12. Already thinking I'll need to do a status run. What would be the most cost effective way to do this in 1 or 2 trips? Based in MEL.

Fly to Christchurch. Won't be the most economical but would be fun if you can make it into a trip and fly business.

Yeah Im already thinking CHC via either BNE or AKL. There are some pretty decently priced Flexi fares through both VA and NZ and I actually really like NZ's TT service.

Hi folks, I'm new to the forum, looks like a great resource so looking forward to contributing.

I'm a long time Velocity FF and been Platinum in the past, last 2 years I've not been travelling as much and about to be downgraded to silver in April.

I need 170 additional status credits before 4th April. I can fly out of either Sydney or Newcastle. My wife family pools to me so we could go somewhere together.

Any ideas on the cheapest way to get the credits up?

With the Speadsheet - I'm thinking I might archive all the VA cash run fares and start from scratch as I reckon most of them are now out of date.
I've added 2 new runs using the current 'Share the Love' sale and a discount code etc.

I'll need some assistance rebuilding the list of fares though if anyone has some time

NTL is one of the best airports you could use as the Flexi fares from there are generally at a significant discount to those from the other state capitals (the other is OOL). I'd be looking at taking your wife to MEL (for a show) and/or BNE for a nice weekend away.

For example, a Flexi on NTL/MEL on 28 Feb is $199 per person (compare to Saver Lite of $89 or Saver of $115). On 1st March, the return is $229 (no comparable as they are all sold).

For the same weekend, a Flexi on NTL/BNE on 28 Feb is $239 per person (compare to Saver Lite of $89 or Saver of $95). On 1st March, the return is the same price.

All can be found cheaper with the right promo code :D - please have a look here ;)

Following might be helpful for people that don't qualify for spreadsheet access yet, I figured these out today:

Seems to me:
Discount Economy = Saver & Saver Lite
Full Fare Economy = Flexi

From what I can see so far the cheapest journey per Status Credit is shaping up to be:
SYD -> OOL Saver Lite $89 for 10 SC's = $8.90 per SC.

This is not exactly great news as I don't want to do that journey 17 times between now and April to get 170 Status Credits!! I might have to suck it up and get demoted to Silver :(

Ah I posted before I saw your reply, thanks for the info, will check out a promo code and some other options from NTL :)

Ooops, sorry forgot to include in my last post, the promo code thread link:

Thanks I ferreted it out :) I found a good promo code that brought my numbers down a bit.

I have friend that lives in Byron so I might take my wife up to visit him and fly SYD ->OOL. It's still only 80 SC's for $731. Then I would be 90 SC's short.

Might be a silly question but do Virgin ever leave you on a status if you're close to the renewal amount or is it black and white? If so how close do you reckon I'd need to be?

OK after much messing about I think the cheapest way for me to get past 170 SC's before 14 April:

Out: SYD -> OOL -> MEL ->OOL (all Flexi)
Back: OOL -> SYD (Saver)

Total with code incl tax = $844.79

Total SC's = 90
Cost per SC = $9.39

I'd have to take my wife with me for a total of $1689.58

I'd like to do it but I don't think I'll get it past the goalie  :D

No, it's black and white. Your SC balance must = or be > the renewal threshold.

Re: Need 4 DJ sectors and 130 SCs by Sept 1

I am currently Plat with 220 SC, there is no way I am going to get back to plat, but just trying to hold onto gold. I need 180 SC but my issue is that my deadline is 19th Feb. I had resided myself to not getting it, but now as I edge closer I really want to make sure I don't miss out if there is a (affordable) way! I live in Townsville and can only really travel at weekends, just wondering if anyway has seen any deals out of CNS or TSV/ Thanks!

You will get a soft fall from Platinum to Gold on 19th February regardless of your SC's. Don't go out of your way this year but try for next year to get back to Platinum or stay gold.

I'm in the same boat come June with 790 needed to requal :p I was going to do Biz to LHR with poolomg in May plus some domestics to try and make it. Might just take the soft landing and try next cycle with my trip to Euro in August.

Another benefit of soft landing and re-qualifying is that all your Platinum partner membership privileges reset (as I understand it). It's one of the downsides of re-qualifying each year, as far as I'm concerned.
