AA flight change nuisance

I'm sure you could use an AA voucher to book a codeshare domestic flight within Australia? Sounds like best value.
That would likely be a bad assumption. AA codeshares on QF Australian domestic flights can only be booked in conjunction with international travel to/from Australia on AA flight numbers. They cannot be booked as stand-alone flights.

And pay QF $600 + fare difference to change will be the only snag with that plan.

I am in a similar situation as eric2011 for my April paid F s/c flights - eticket issued and 2 legs would have misconnected due to amalgamation - rang USA AA and changed carrier to US & stopovers to different cities - all good except for 50 less s/c's.
Another reschedule by AA - rang AA and got re-ticketed back to original stopovers without any fuss or $ - will receive original s/c's as well.

I also received notification overnight for a flight number change. Wonder if we are on the same flight (lol)

Don't forget to check your seating particularly if the a/c type changes as well as the flight number. We had a sked change to a SKB/MIA flight brought forward 25 minutes plus change of flight number however we retained the same seat allocation as it was still a 738 a/c.

Thanks ozbeachbabe - yes I had to select new seats for the new sector/flights as flight numbers had changed - easily done via AA website (view my booking) once ticket was re-issued.

Thanks, mine was only a flight number change with same equipment. AA put us in for the same seats (2D,2F i think)

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

OK still no movement from AA.

Options outbound:
Upgrade to F LAX-DFW +$800 (+ change fees ~ $250 - although may be able to convince them to waive that)
Stick with 8pm direct in J
Overnight in LAX (my expense) and get next morning 755 flight.

Option inbound: basically none, 7hr transit in LAX.

Interestingly and of note, AA refuse to put me on US on the return (via PDX).

Again open to the brains trust for thoughts /comments.....

That's what happens when you deal with LCCs. :)

I know Jetstar and Tiger cop a lot of flack but at least they do offer full refunds for significant schedule changes not just credit voucher.

So it seems unless the brains trust can come up with something.

LAX-DFW-YVR 90+80SCs vs LAX-YVR for 60SCs.

$800 for 110SCs?

Looking at it from that alternative POV is what AFF members are famous for. Well done. $800 for 110 SC is good value especially under the circumstances. "Why fly direct when you can connect"

I'm assuming I've got the SC calcs correct! But looking that way, then it may be a reasonable investment!

AA flight changes

There seems to be a lot of AA flight schedule and aircraft changes going on at the moment. I assume mostly to do with realignments between AA and US flights. Be warned and keep checking. Don't wait for AA to contact you about changes. Be proactive!

My upcoming BNE-LAX-DFW-MCO has changed again (about the fourth time) and now the LAX connection is below MCT, with QF arrival at 6:25 and we have been moved onto an AA LAX-DFW departing at 7:58. That's rarely ever going to be achievable, especially arriving in Y. MCT is 2 hours for Int-Dom at LAX.

So I will need to call back for options. Looks like I have a choice of taking US LAX-PHX-MCO with reasonable connections on A321 aircraft. Or AA LAX-MIA-MCO on 777 followed by 757 for the last hop. Since the LAX-MCO is on an F award (full F, not Saver), I am leaning towards going via MIA for the 777 F seats even though the final arrival into MCO is about 45 mins later.

Then again, things could change another 4 times before my flight date!
