Hi guys

I want to book a Jetstar flight from DPS to MEL with my QFF points.
I placed a dummy booking and confirmed I only get a 20kg baggage allowance (and I am only a Bronze so nothing extra for me)

I know if I book and pay for this as per normal on the jetstar website I can select how much baggage I want (and pay the appropriate fee of course)
My question is, given we can't manage a Jetstar booking when paying with QFF points, is there any way to increase this 20kg checked baggage allowance?

No I don't believe so. You'd either get your 20kg by booking through the QF website then anything over and above that you'll have to pay whatever the excess charges are at the airport which are always much more expensive that pre-paying online on the Jetstar website.

Before you do anything further checkout what the regular airfare would be DPS/MEL booking on the JQ website then selecting the appropriate amount of excess baggage you require to give you a better idea of the cost.

They've had some really cheap fares to/from Bali recently so you could still be better off buying a regular ticket and even earn points & SC if you purchase a plus bundle as opposed to burning points then paying taxes on top of that too.

Purchasing a ticket could well end up being cheaper than an award ticket. Given you'll have excess baggage over 20 kilos I think this would be a much better option for you.

What is the total amount of checked luggage you are likely to have?

I am looking at 272 USD or 3,112,452 Indonesian Rupiah - which actually works out cheaper when exchanged to AUD - about $295 AUD. So I'd book in that currency if I was to do it. PLus extra for 30kg which is what I will comfortably need.
As opposed to 20,000 QFF points, plus about $140 AUD of taxes

I think that $300 AUD one way is an excellent price, so might do that. Might even use a $300 Jetstar voucher. They have a promo on at the moment where you get 10% back as a another voucher which you can use anyway you like...so I can use that for my excess baggage I suppose...

Looks like paying a normal fare is the way to go...
