Am I the only only person here starting to think VA and nothing short of blowhards? Full of huff and puff - but can never really catch a full sail of wind?

Nope. I agree. Probably should have announced it once the deal was ready. Otherwise they're putting themselves into a corner, and end up looking stupid if they can't pull it off, or are delayed for any reason. All of the hype that accompanied the announcement has all of a sudden gone quiet, no updates on their website, nothing in emails.

Maybe they have no funds left to continue the PR onslaught - spent it all on sending a gazillion overpaid / under delivering high flying execs to Singapore for the junket!

VA Plats were sort of promised (strongly hinted anyway) Silver Kris lounge access in Sin, not just the * Alliance Gold lounge

hey kpc, whats the source of hint.. me loves this access, cant wait to travel to India now, was thinking will go via AUH to use the EY first class lounge....

Perhaps its arranged and will be announced in the last week of november.... or perhaps nothing will happen...

I guess we won't know for a few more week.

The suspense is just too much so I will head off tomorrow. I should be back in OZ around November 28th.

This would REALLY irriate their *A partners who don't get it. I don't see this happening.

But that would mean that *A would have to create a new tier essentially (like Oneworld) to differentiate between *G and the next tier up.

I think you are spot on - good contact in SQ told me VA want 1 KF pt / 3 VA pts - SQ are demanding 1 KF pt / 5 VA pts - hopefully they will settle it soon. ;)

It seems odd they announced they would be doing something by a specific date before agreeing on the single most fundamental detail of it. Its a bit like signing a contract to buy a house before discussing the price or announcing a new CEO before discussing salary.

If this rumour is correct, it would seem that 4:1 (each way) would be the compromise and if that is the case I wonder if they'll bother going ahead with it at all. Its even worse value than the appalling value you can currently use VA points for on SQ. Apart from the ability to use your VA points to redeem for non-SQ *A flights (at terrible value) will there be any points to having this transfer at all?

Which bit of "November" is ambiguous? When i tell someone i will do something next week I mean by friday, not by monday. If i meant monday i would have said monday.

By my count VA and SQ are still 19 days ahead of their deadline. They don't have any obligation to announce anything further or do anything extra until the end of November. Sure we all want more information but they haven't broken any promise by not providing it. So far there is, as far as i can tell, no evidence that they're not going to do what they said they'd do just baseless speculation.

If this hasn't been sorted by 1st December then it is time to start complaining.

Already similar happening at LAX (on a partner basis, not *A) ... ;)

It sure is. I was speaking purely on a *A basis which only has two elite tiers, one that doesn't grant lounge access and one that does. Regardless of how many tiers each member airline has.

Sure - fully aware (having been a BiS NZ [Gold] Elite for most of the last 6 years).

And, no, it does not mean *A would have to create a new tier level - VA's arrangement at LAX is outside of *A; as would any similar arrangement at SIN be.

You're not getting me. We agree completely that VA and their arrangements are outside the *A scope. What I'm saying is that if *A wanted to start allowing *A elites into F lounges or the like (and I know the SIN Silverkris is no Flounge or TPR) then another tier above *G would be required.

Sure I get you, and always did - that's true - but not really the topic of this thread.

VA providing WP access to the First section of the *A lounge at LAX was mentioned in relation to the suggestion that Silver Kris lounge access in SIN would also be provided so in relation to the VA/SQ tie up along with Velocity transfers to/from Kris Flyer.

You'll note I was responding to a comment that said VA WP won't have access based on the fact that *G don't get access. Personally I think it's more likely than *G's being granted entry by SQ since SQ seem to prefer to do things their way.

And yes. not really relevant in this thread.

Which bit of "November" is ambiguous?
The bit about me having the s**ts in general with VA for canning direct MEL-LAX flts. They huff and puff about being frontline A Grade carrier and as soon as UA announce direct 787 flts ex MEL they turn tail and scamper back to BNE with their tail bw their legs! What has this to do with VA pts -> SQ / SQ pts -> VA? The bit about me having the s**ts in general with VA for canning direct MEL-LAX flts. :D

You mean VA cannot be taken seriously? Who would have thought.
