I have booked a UL economy flight HKG-BKK for tomorrow and want to credit to AAdvantage where I obviously do not have any status.

At the same time I would like to use my Qantas Platinum card for lounge access. Should I expect to have any issues? Thinking of doing the same thing for CX economy flights later.

A few days ago I had an RJ boarding pass with my AAdvantage number and gain access to Qantas and CX lounges in HKG.

I think it will be OK but have read stories on AFF of people having issues with lounge access.

I've done that before. Credit to AA whilst having my FF card on hand. You won't have any issues.

Could you report back once you have completed the journey please John?

Apparently Qantas is the only airline that seems to have a problem with this.

No I had difficulty once - just once mind you - accessing MH lounge at KUL with MH number in booking and QF gold card presented to lounge - but he said it wasn't busy so he would let me in just this once. The comment he made me wonder if the absence of expiry date on the QF (LTG) card was the problem.

There's two scenarios to crediting to a program other than your 'home' airline.

In JohnK's case he wanted to credit his UL & RJ flights to AA where the AA number (no status) is in the pnr & on the boarding pass but present the QF WP card to the lounge staff.

The other scenario is being able to have two numbers in your booking eg your QF WP number for status recognition (FQTS), priority seating, free bags etc and your AA number for points accrual (FQTV).

Any airline who uses (Amadeus) Altea as their checkin system has the ability to do the latter scenario however not all staff members would be aware of how to do it as it's not a common occurrence.

I was trying to credit UA flights to AV LM (no status) but keep my TK *A Gold number for status purposes - lounge access, free bags & priority seating however according to UA staff (both reservations & UA staff at YYC checkin) it can't be done. I ended up just leaving the TK card in the pnr so the points credited to TK.

The UL miles have posted to Aadvantage account as business class. I booked economy but bid for an upgrade to business which came through. ;)

The RJ flight was an AA award flight.

My summary is a little confusing.

The total available award mileage includes the business class bonus but the ending balance in the mileage activity does not.
