Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these. I was just reading on flyertalk that there is a new challenge available. Thinking of completing one for my upcoming stay in NYC and qualifying with another stay in Melbourne. I have just recently been made Hilton Gold via Virgin so would I believe need to have one stay there to start the challenge.

Yes i did the trial this year, leveraging marriot status. Can confirm that you need to show at least one recent visit, i think in the past year, on the status that you are trying to match.

the 4pm late checkout i have never been turned down on, and along with the lounge, is the benefits that i enjoy the most

I got the diamond trial this year after not making diamond last year (well short). Although I did have to get special approval higher up in Hyatt HQ to get the trial (have been diamond a few times)- persistence paid off - and Hyatt won - to date this year 47 nights completed and 14 more in the next 2 months.

Not sure if Hilton Gold is sufficient for top tier matching but give it a go!

Diamond with Hyatt is by far the best elite hotel level I have reached- the benefits are outstanding but it is not a simple achievement. The only shame is the number of Hyatt hotels are not great in Australia.

Is there an issue with doing the trial if you have previously held diamond? Hence the special approval?

From my reading Hilton Gold is sufficient. Will update if isn't. I am heading to the Andaz 5th Avenue NYC for 8 nights in October. Thinking of completing the challenge back in Australia at Melbourne Grand Hyatt with family in November. I am currently platinum and have been enjoying the benefits bestowed by Hyatt for loyalty. Sounds like the Andaz 5th Avenue is a good place to be diamond!

I have booked a night at Hilton Gold Coast Residences for my qualifying purposes.

Does Hyatt contact the relevant brand or hotel from your stay history when they ask for it (in addition to proof of elite status with a competitor)? These sorts of offers just seem open to abuse if it's just a screenshot for proof. What's to stop photoshopping?

They didn't for me. Just a screenshot of my Hilton account showing Gold and stay history.

I guess they figure you have to stay to get the benefits anyway so the "abuse" is still bringing in revenue.

Could this work with Accor LeClub platinum or Best Western Diamond?

Glider_, Accor may be worth a try.. all they can say is no!! but here are the clubs.. Comparable competitor tiers to Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond: Hilton HHonors
® Gold or Diamond,

Marriott Rewards
® Gold or Platinum, Starwood Preferred Guest® Platinum, IHG® Rewards Club Platinum Elite.

Current Hyatt Gold Passport members may register to participate.

There's a post #1963 on FlyerTalk about the most recent Diamond Trial offer having ended on 31/10/14.
That's right. It did end. I stayed at a Hilton on Monday night to use my MilePoint P2 membership-obtained HHonors Gold Elite status to get the Hyatt Diamond trial. Now to stay 18 nights in the next 65 days (12 in 53) to keep it through Feb 2016! Should be able to use it as a platform to get HHonors and SPG Platinum over the next few years!

Yes, lucky for some, Beta4Me. :). I saw your earlier post on the other thread, so you just got in.

Good luck with the new Diamond status.

Thanks mate. Hope a new promo comes up soon. IMO, unless you absolutely needed it, I'd be waiting for the first promo from March next year to do the trial to maximise the duration you'd have the status for ;)

I too kick started a diamond trial early October due to a stay booked mid October at the Andaz in NYC for 8 nights. It was great to have the breakfast benefit that we were able to use in their restaurant downstairs every day. I am still having a few issues with Gold Passport at the moment though in regards to a request prior to my stay to use one of the diamond suite upgrades rather then my points as I had originally booked. Im planning on completing the challenge with a 4 night stay at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne later this month. Looking forward to utilising some suite upgrades for travel in 2016 in Europe.

Be aware that with the diamond trial the condition was 60 days from commencement date -(I see you posted 12 in 53).

Seems many have been tripped up by thinking the (end of month) expiry date of the trail status was when they needed the 12 nights by.

Yes, I know that the status runs to the end of the month but the trial ends exactly 60 days from kick off which, for me, is December 30.

The 4 diamond suite upgrades (guaranteed) you receive with the Hyatt Diamond trial are great....you have up to Feb 28 next year to use them, and you can use them for stays for up to a year in advance; and suites normally come with lounge access (very useful if you don't qualify for ongoing Diamond status)! I have guaranteed suites for both GH Taipei and Singapore coming up....

Hi,

I applied for Diamond Trial in June this year. I was offered it and took it. Only managed to fill in 12 nights so therefore didn't complete the challenge. But on my account it said that I still had 3 suite vouchers I could use till 28th of Feb.

I spoke to the Hyatt Hotline and they said because I have been dropped down to a Platinum - that these suite vouchers were no longer valid - even though they still showed up on my account! I also spoke to the manager and she re-iterated the same thing!

Anyone else experienced this if they were not able to complete the challenge but still want to use the suite vouchers even though they were downgraded to Platinum?

Wouldn't 12 nights have got you across the line? I dont have personal experience with this but I think if you make the booking whilst you are still showing diamond you would be able to use the upgrade for a later subsequently platinum stay?

Sorry - typo. I only completed 7 nights - therefore didn't complete the 12 nights.

So yes - had I still been diamond - the suite upgrade would work. But because I am now downgraded to Platinum after 60 days - called Hyatt Hotline yesterday and they said no to me.
