No $99 fares at all

There were quite a few yesterday, dates pretty wide open up to mid-December. I booked a return, see my post 17, at around 630pm AEST. Seats become more limited and I am guessing around 800pm most of the $99 fares to MNL and $44 flight back to SYD were gone.

Good luck everyone that secured el cheapo fares.. I have travelled on this aircraft several times, but am looking forward to hearing of your experiences with the new 5J flights.
Any further info required on MNL or Philippines in general, you are welcomed to PM me.
i have some 'limited" experience in The Philippines.
Cheers,
jl

Not to mention Filipinos are apparently big on luggage (like the balikbayan box).
Total understatement - just stand behind a bunch of them at check-in and observe the mindboggling experience of every one of them re-packing / re-arranging check and carry on luggage - and I do not mean the occasional pax - every single one of them - mindboggling!

The QF20 MNL/SYD queue starkly resembled all of your comments last weekend, & every other day of the week.
Fortunately my flight SQ check in area was more civilised & 'un enhanced" with more than adequate staff<>passenger ratio levels. :D
I distinctly recall not so long ago when the fighting coughs in Bamboo Cages were also presented at the check in desks at domestic terminals as well

there was a $44 MNL-SYD left late last night/early this morning - but the the cheapest SYD-MNL were gone, lowest was $200 when I looked. (I also had the problem with the month picker showing a super low price, but when it went to actually pick that day you got a higher price)

Booked myself on a mid-Oct flight return last sale. Went back to book a mate on 10 minutes later and there was no availability.

Last night it was back, fantastic! Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks jetpack for the heads up.

A friend informs me that Cebu are also offering flights to Japan for ~$123 return!

No details of dates at this point.

Greetings from 40,000ft! Currently on the flight to Manila. Shocked and impressed by 5J so far....

If this flight were 100% full it would be not so great, but at 75% it is fine. Basic, but cheerful and helpful staff. Seats (to me, 100kg, 6ft) aren't noticeably tight.

Wifi only 12USD for length of the flight, no data limits. Slow, but enough to text, browse and post!

Drinking our 100PHP/$2.30 cans of San Miguels.

Great flight so far. Currently over TSV.

Pretty cheap internet! I assume you need your own device? Dirt cheap beer!! Sounds promising!

Do you need PHP for the flight?

Where/what are you planning on doing over there?

Thanks for posting.

Two hours to go.

Yep own device for internet. They also stream movies for free to your own device.

You don't need PHP but the AUD prices aren't written down (you just get told them) and I estimate they're 20-40% more than PHP prices. I think they also accept USD.

Off to Cebu a couple of hours after we land. As for what we are up to once there? No idea at the moment!

Nice going Virgin Bart ... the inflight wifi sounds pretty neat for $12 :) :)

Will be taking this flight 20th next month but for $170 return ..... I can afford to be cramped if the flight's full.

Thanks for the in flight upgrade :) Feel free to snoop around and report back on the best seat picks!

Have had a good look around and there's two types of seats here.... Emergency exit and not. Emergency exit has meters of space as usual and the nots have little. Few rows of 2-3-2 at the back too (instead of 3-3-3 usual) ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1412841761.928155.jpg

Thanks for the updates!

Just found this as well on the Cebu website.. does it match reality?

What’s the difference between Standard and Standard Plus?
A330 Standard seats provide guests with 30inch seat pitch while Standard Plus seats will provide additional legroom with 32 inch seat pitch. Standard Plus seats are located at the rear section of the cabin.

Wait.... Maybe I've been in the plus section.... Not sure now.

On further inspection, yes, there seems to be some extra leg room in my row, 34 (second last of front cabin).

Also they just did a quiz over the PA. Three questions. Bit of fun and a coughpy travel pouch as a prize. Still, breaks it up a bit.
