Just boarded my flight from Singapore home, sitting in J.

Cabin crew is going around asking everyone for their meal choices and addressing them by name as you'd expect.

She gets to me. 'Sorry I don't have your name'

I have been booked in this seat for weeks and checked in 4 hours before flight.

So much for my P1 status!

That's more a crew issue not a P1 specific issue is it not?

What about those miraculous iPads that the crew(CSM at least) carry? Supposed to at least have the basic pax info in them. I've looked at them in a couple of flights - every seat is colour coded with status.

Bit more than crew issue I suggest.

A bit silly I agree but I'd also agree if you weren't even a member of QFF.
Not a P1 issue it's a QF service standard issue in J. All customers should be called by name.

Just consistent inconsistent QF service!
Flying QF for me is like playing the slot machines, you know you will lose on average in terms of service but you just want to go back... every time (btw I don't play slot machines, just my analogy) hoping that it will be good sometime

Luggage one of the last off belt despite the yellow First tag. Lipstick on a pig?

This flight has been a poor experience. Cabin crew were lovely as usual - I don't attach any blame to them.

As my surname is a little difficult to pronounce correctly if you do not know it (and very easy if you do), on countless occasions in the boarding process (and at other times where names are involved), all the passengers before me will get welcomed by name etc and l will not. It happens so often to me that it is pointless getting excited about.

On the bright side, at least the OP can fly on QF from SIN to get some sort of P1 benefit. It is 3K or SQ for PER customers. However, now QF have forced me to fly on SQ, in Y, there is no real difference on board between flying as a P1 on QF and as a VA red on SQ on PER-SIN sectors.

Yet they couldn't remember your name? I would have thought that to be a crew issue more than anything?

I have a similar issue with a difficult (European) surname so after years of hearing FAs struggling with the pronunciation I finally called QF and asked to be called by my first name from now on.
It worked well for the first 2-3 weeks (although some FAs felt the need to add Mr. to my first name which made me feel I'm in Asia :p) but then it just completely stopped for some reason and I was being addressed by my surname again.

Juat to be clear. The cabin crew member was carrying a printed list of passengers names as she went around taking meal orders. When she got to me she admitted that my name was not on there. It wasn't a case of forgetting my name.

If your name wasn't on the manifest, the crew would have been asking questions.

I have a feeling the list you are referring to is the seat map with each passengers name and details on each corresponding seat.
I have seen those lists on a number of 330 services, and IIRC correctly, those details are manually inputted by the crew.
Hence why I am saying it is a crew issue, not an issue with P1 status per se.

Look I get that it's nice to be addressed by name, but seriously is this a thread all because an FA didn't have your name on hand when they came around to speak to you?

Isn't it more about Qantas not following through with something they spruik? Qantas promised the world when they announced P1 and if I did the amount of flying necessary to get to those dizzy heights I would probably want the recognition as well. It sounds petty when laid out in black and white here, but if you are P1 and tired from a huge amount of flying, I could see how it would p&&$ you off if everyone except you got recognition....

harvyk, first off, I see your point and agree this could be the ultimate in ¨first world problem¨ / DYKWIA síndrome.

But thinking about it, in an industry where treatment of frequent flyers is important, with all airlines upping the ante, I also see that if Qantas cannot get basic personal attention right for P1 pax (who are truly their elite revenue providers), then they have a problem.

As always, I love Qantas and want them to succeed. If I ever bag them it is to try to help.

Sometimes they tear the list in half and send the bottom half down to economy. Perhaps you were at the bottom of J list and were accidently torn off?

It's the same if you are crediting to a different OW program - no recognition whatsoever as a WP even though they've processed lounge access and had my QFF on file prior to switching to AB. You'd think they pick up that people are "sleeping with the enemy" so it were and make them a priority.

I too had a similar experience but in Y from auckland to Brisbane. Several others in rows 4 and 5 were named and given J headsets. I had to ask ( and received, so no drama).

but earlier this week in J from Sydney to Singapore the CSM read most of our names. Acknowledged me as a P1 (I should have dropped back to WP but seems I had 2 days grace) and told me I flew too much (in jest of course). Interestingly the passenger next to me (yes, yet another failed shadow despite a request being made) was also named and thanked for being a member of a partner airline programme and thanked for loyalty to the alliance. I thought that was a good touch. We were both made the offer to do anything needed, but in J that's pretty automatic.

i agree the problem is the over-selling of P1, and bewildering inconsistency. Very inconsistent treatment across the board not just flight crew. And hugely variable experiences of different P1s based on this forum at least. In my opinion they should just determine X number of specific benefits a P1 is guaranteed to receive and that aren't subject to the 'lottery'. Or give the P1 a choice. Anything else should be a bonus.

QF could take a page out of the CX handbook.

I hadn't thought of that one.

It was strange to be seated in 23J on a SYD-BKK flight and to have the CSM walk past you and start to welcome people further back in economy.

Didn't get an express arrivals card either. I had to go and ask for one. In the end the Bronze sitting next to me go one as well as they were jealous.
