Are you telling us it is being released in october? as your post is a bit weird.

VFF informed me that the details will be released in October....start date not confirmed.

Escept the announcement says

The new conversion capability will be available to members of both programmes from November as well as an improved online booking capability for Velocity Frequent Flyers to redeem flights on Singapore Airlines and SilkAir.

Everyone will be interested in the conversion rates.

I'm realistic enough to not expect miracles but given that SQ is a major VA shareholder, if they want to help them compete with QF in Australia then a 1:1 transfer conversion would achieve that goal (and then some). It would also increase the value of the Velocity program exponentially IMO.

Whilst this doesn't make VA a star alliance airline by any means it certainly would increase the value of the velocity program and give it a significantly great reach than it currently has.

Thats exactly what I thought. It's almost like making VA a quasi-member of *A. Although there's no recognition of VA status of *A airlines it does give the ability to earn and burn VA points on *A (and earn and burn *A SQ points on VA).

I had originally thought it would be 1.5:1 VA:SQ but I think it will be more like 2:1 on each direction to keep it simple and avoid anyone gaming the system (and given very few people would be wanting to swap SQ points for VA points and SQ points are a lot more valuable).

I can think of a good reason why people would want to swap SQ points to VA - especially if your SQ points have been sitting there a little bit too long :D

Looks like they may both get an opportunity to grab a share of your points in both programs but if those points/ miles are close to expiry you would definitely want to consider it.

Will hold off on the transfer of credit card reward points until further notice of conversion rate, maybe better off going direct to SQ points instead of VA especially for J upgrades out of ADL on SQ.

It is now the 21st of October, the announcement on the transfer rates must be near.....

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
