I open a thread and the header information is displayed and the posts are not showing. I then need to refresh for the posts to show but it goes to top of page not the latest post.

The same happens when I reply to a thread. I click on Reply and the header information only is displayed. I need to refresh and the posts are shown but it goes to top of page not the latest post.

I have just installed Internet Explorer 8 to a Windows Vista laptop. I have been using Internet Explorer 7 the past 2 days and it was fine. I vaguely remember having this issue a few years back but do not remember what I needed to do to fix it. I was hoping to stay on Internet Explorer 8 and not have to install Internet Explorer 9 just yet.

I know most people have moved away from Internet Explorer but can someone please help? Anyone remember having this issue in the past?

I cannot even offer to try and help JohnK as I use Firefox, Chrome and Safari but not IE any version.

Is it possible the Internet gods are trying to tell you something JohnK? :D Just askin' :D
You mean like a hidden message? It aint working.

I don't really like Firefox or Google Chrome. Hate Safari. And Opera. Well I have no idea but I hate Opera as well.

There has to be a simple reason why posts are not showing going from Internet Explorer 7 to Internet Explorer 8. Some setting I need to change.

Gmail is now running much better and Hotmail is back to full version instead of the mobile version.

Oh and it is a Vista laptop. ;)

Shut it down (the laptop that is) and fire it up again?

Does this happen with all threads?

Have you tried enabling Compatibility Mode in IE8 (I think that was the first version with that feature)?

Apart from that, no idea. My only guess is that if you are a member of AFF which still gets ads, sometimes the ad stuff gets a bit snippy with IE rendering for some reason, making it stall or draw out. Of course, why refreshing subsequently works is a mystery, too.

IE rendering for some reasons can really send you around the bend. The only sites I know that are guaranteed to render properly and very well in IE is anything built by or on a foundation of Microsoft.

Oh and all formatting in the posts disappear. Paragraphs, blank lines between posts etc. All gone.

The error I was getting is a parsing error KB927917 and after following these instructions it has fixed the issue

Microsoft said:
Try the following steps.

a) In internet explorer window click on Tools.
b) On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
c) On the Security tab, select the zone the site loads under.
d) Click on Custom level bottom.
e) Scroll down to the Scripting section, and set the Active Scripting to Disabled - prevents scripts or to Prompt - prompts user to run or not to run scripts.
f) Click OK.

Hasn't fixed the text formatting issue.

Really weird.

I had to uninstall Internet Explorer 8 to go back to Internet Explorer 7 as the version of Internet Explorer 8 I installed was having issues on other websites as well. Really strange.

Anyway waited some time and have re-installed Internet Explorer 8 and it appears to be stable now. Not sure of the difference between then and now but it is working.

I know I am in the minority using Internet Explorer but I feel comfortable using it.

IE8 may have had a slight update between your first and second install attempts that may explain why it works now.
