Jnr#1 and I are heading off to USA tomorrow and part of this trip included 5 nights at Hilton Los Cabos. I have just gotten off the phone from Hilton, who have confirmed it is closed to September 30 due to extensive damage from Hurricane Odile -

Hurricane Odile Updates: Unprecedented Tropical Cyclone Slams Cabo San Lucas, Los Cabos, La Paz - weather.com

So before I phone my travel insurance company, does anyone have any suggestions for resort for 5 nights? The itinerary is HNL, OGG, SFO, ???, LAX?

I guess there is always LAS, but we did that last time.

What about Aruba? ISTR that they don't get hurricanes there & the weather year round is great.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn right on the beach. It's kind of like Hawaii in the Caribbean.

My second choice would be Maui on Ka'anapali Beach somewhere. We stayed at The Whaler apartments.

Just re-read your post & you're aleady going to OGG. Would the airline you're flying to Cabo with have a blanket waive in place that would allow you to re-route your ticket LAX/SJD/LAX to LAX/AUA/LAX for the same fare or if not maybe the insurance company would reimburse you for the difference/additional collection to go to AUA.

One alternative would be to do a short cruise ex MIA or FLL for 5 nights. Check out Discount Cruises, Last Minute Cruises, Cruise, Cruise Line, Cruise Vacation as you may find a cruise that slots in with those dates.

Orlando could be another option where you can knock off Disneyworld, Kennedy Space Center, Universal Studios & a number of other things that I'm sure would meet with Junior's approval. As inconvenient as it all is at least you got a couple of days notice to rejig things rather than have been in Cabo when it all turned to caca.
