Hi,

I have not yet booked Southwest Airlines Wanna Get Away fares from Vegas to LAX for the 30th of October '14. We are not yet sure what time we want to fly. Does anyone know if these fares become unavailable as the date gets closer or do they stay the same or maybe get cheaper? I expect the available flight times are reduced as flights fill up.

Cheers,

Jason

I have flown with them a number of times and have generally found that prices are cheapest when tickets are first released and then steadily go up. Southwest does have a 'no change fee' policy, however you do still need to pay any additional fare difference.

And if the fare happens to go down, you will receive a credit (not a refund though).

This is what we've found as well on several trips to the US, that the Wanna Get Away fares are cheapest either at the time fares are first released for the applicable dates or in sales soon afterwards, and then will get more expensive as the flight date approaches. We found that usually once the WGA fares sell out, Southwest won't release any more for that particular flight.

Southwest has sales quite regularly, so it's worthwhile signing up for email alerts.

And as Robd mentioned, you will get a credit if you cancel and rebook and the new flight fare is cheaper than the original one. I think the credit has to be used within 12 months though, so only really of use if you're booking other Southwest flights.

Thanks mole, robd & Jurahn.

I have booked the flight, it was good to know that if we change our flight time we won't lose our fare. We are looking forward to being entertained by the CSM flight announcements and safety briefing, it made our flight last time.

Cheers,

Jason
