Hi Guys,

We are traveling from Rome to Dubai in a couple of days with an overnight connection in London:

Rome - Madrid (Iberia)
Madrid - London (BA)
London - Dubai (QF)

I have done some tax free shopping and have claims to get stamped by customs upon departure in the EU and was hoping to get this done in Rome so that we don't have to cart all our bags to and from the Hotel in London. I had just assumed since it was a connection that the bags would be checked through to Dubai but we actually have nearly 23 hours in London so now I'm not so sure!

Does anyone know whether we can ask to have them checked through to save us the hassle of lugging? We have 3 big suitcases and our carry on - not to mention that one of the tax free items we need to get sighted by customs on departure IS one of the suitcases, and it won't be "new" by the time it gets manhandled between Rome and London.

Any guidance or knowledge would be appreciated :)

Matt

I personally would take the bags with me. I wouldn't trust an airport to hold my bags for 23hrs, too much room for error .

I suggest you get your luggage wrapped on departure at Rome and London, will keep them clean and guards against damage (and pilfering)
