What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

"It may be lower by the end of this year, but there is still a window where the Australian dollar could go a bit higher before it goes down"

Translation: It can go down or go up and we don't have a clue.

Lost in translation then ....!☺️

Trying to advise on AUD$ exchange rate is about as much help as what will the interest rate next year, all just a lottery :)

Its still all about the printing presses, US printing presses are still whirring away in particular, but European and Japanese printing presses may make a bit of a difference.

Like always with FX currency markets- when the correction does come, it will be completely overdone, and you would expect to see the AUD going into an 'oversold' period after a period of being stubbornly high. :D

And then go up again.... and then fall again.... and then go up again....

I swear that I have heard that line before ....

Following the AUD feels like dejavu.

I am off again in 4 weeks so hope it holds up.

I should really open that bank account in Thailand and take the lows out of the equation.

I had to laugh a few days ago when I was watching ABC News Breakfast and they were getting the Financial Update from a 'Currency Strategist' with one of the major banks, what do we think a 'Currency Strategist' role description would look like?

A 30 year old dart board if he has long term Aussie dollar thoughts. I think it floated when Paul Keating had an idea he might be able to buy and sell French antique clocks. Must be a good guesser might be in the description.

When the correction eventually comes - and it must - it will almost certainly be an AUD at ca. USD 0.55 for a while, if not lower.

And it'll probably still be cheaper to buy stuff from Amazon than locally...

I bought at 0.9312 as Citi US MasterCard converted at 0.9305 from 21st August. Have been building AA miles at a pretty good rate paying the ATO on this US MasterCard at a fee less than 0.42% which is sweet.

Not that long ago the Kiwi was inching towards par with the Aussie but now fetching over 1.11.

I know many are hoping for a lower dollar because it will help business (make more profit). But what about the consumer. Petrol prices will go through the roof. Imports will increase substantially. Worth it? I have my doubts. Many families are already struggling, to increase fuel by 30% could be a big problem.
