Hi All,

Hoping someone can help. I need 35 Status Credits to obtain Platinum, but need it by 28th August. I was under the impression that if I booked a return Flexi Fare ADL to MEL as a Points plus pay option - Any Seat, that I can get the necessary Status Credits (20 each way) all for approx 32,000 pts + $42 each way. As I have over 140,000 points I don't mind burning a few to get the necessary Status Credits.

Since the website changes a few days ago, when selecting Points + Pay on the booking page, the drop down box enabling you to choose a Reward Seat (which I believe did not provide Status Credits) and Any Seat (which I believe did provide status credits) has gone.

I called the Velocity Gold number today and was told abruptly that there is no way to earn Status Credits at all using your points in a Points + Pay option in any bookings.

Is this the case from peoples experience? Im relatively new to all this, so perhaps Im off the mark in thinking I could use Points + Pay - Any Seat to gain Status credits. Any help or advice is appreciated. I was hoping to avoid paying the $255 each way on a return trip to Melb from Adelaide (Home is Adelaide) as funds are a bit tight at the moment!

Cheers

I've earned sc on a points plus pay booking, but booked a while ago.

I've just tried and I can see it by doing a search ADL-MEL (25 and 26 Aug). Then on the flight selection page select modify search. There is a tick box for points plus pay, tick then. Click "find flights". That should then bring up both reward and points plus pay options for saver/lite. Click "show more flights" that'll bring up flexi and business points plus pay options.

No worries. The booking engine seems to be significantly improved.

So do you earn SC's on Reward Seats? I can't seem to find anything on the virgin website saying one way or the other.

You will earn Status Credits when you travel on eligible fares with Virgin Australia and our airline partners, plus on eligible Any Seat redemptions and on fares flown as part of a Virgin Australia Holidays package.

Can someone confirm that the 'Points Plus Pay Option' is the same as the 'Any Seat Award' ? Son wants to book a domestic flight which will earn him SC's, but with the new layout I cannot find 'Any Seat' award redemptions.

To earn the SC's, should I be looking at the "Points plus Pay Option' EG: The fare options which are shown next to the 'Economy Reward' seat on the booking page. ??

Is Points + pay (SC earning) available with QFF?

I know ASA is dead, but still not sure if the option can earn SC?

Even after being told different things by them on thw phone.

yes ... but generally poor value at under $0.008 per point.

Not too fussed about value right now, should have over 200k in points (combined) within a month or so (anz cc atleast once, maby also apply for black asap), me still pending (would be application 3).

Already have asa flights later in the year (Melb - Bris - Lax - Jfk), then a mixed class arriving back (Lax (Premium)- Syd (Cattle) - Melb).

Will just need 90 SC to reach gold (currently bronze!).

Let the flight calculations begin!
