I am about to book Any Seat rewards, can you please tell me how the points earn is calculated as I have been unable to find this information. I assume Status credits are calculated in the usual manner. I am new to this so apologies if this info is available somewhere, but I can only find what is copied below. Thanks

Any Seat

If you can’t find the Reward Seat you want, you can redeem your Points for Any Seat with Virgin Australia and select airline partners. Any Seat redemption bookings are eligible to earn Velocity Points, Status Credits and Eligible Sectors~ which count towards maintaining or upgrading your status. Any Seats provide choice and flexibility, so you can choose the flight that suits your preferred travel times. Any Seat refers to seats in any other fare class commercially available to the general public on Virgin Australia, and our airline partners Singapore Airlines, Air New Zealand, Etihad Airways, Delta Air Lines, SilkAir, Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Samoa, Virgin America, Hawaiian Airlines and airberlin.

Good question, is that new? Points earn would be based on distance flown as per normal for international.

The T&C's indicate so but since these Any Seat rewards on VA are generally of such poor value, I am not sure any member of this forum, has actually taken the plunge.

I certainly have no intention to do so.

ive got 100k was hoping to use 88k to go ad/per/dps in march and go for 140sc but agree the value is not in it. only using $100 in fees for the flexi trip was the main incentive.

If I had to make a guess for the points earn for an ASA, seeing as its 5 points per $ spent on rev tickets (with status bonuses), my guess is that it would be 5 points per 100 points redeemed (with status bonuses).

They do and agreed they are poor value. Not quite as poor as the Qantas ASAs (when not booked in the marginal buckets), but nothing could be as poor as those.

Hi there,
Points will be earned and calculated depending on fare booked and itinerary, as per this link:
Points Earn with Airline Partners | Velocity Frequent Flyer

You must also be booked into an eligible earning fare class.

Thanks for all the replies, not sure if this is correct protocol to paste info but as you will see below this is what the Saver Fare and Flexi Fare earning was.
I did phone for info but the Velocity Gold staff member was surprised to find out from me you could earn points on an Any Seat reward!

Hi All,
Klav here, I don't often post in the VA threads, but had an odd conversation with a very pleasant VA customer service person.
I wanted to know if "Redemption" points purchased seats were included in the double status promotion.
She said she had to get her team leader.
Came back and said, no, they were not included.
This sounded odd so after our call, the VA web site was checked.

Here's what it says on their web site

How to earn Status Credits

"You will earn Status Credits when you travel on eligible fares with Virgin Australia and our airline partners, plus on eligible Any Seat redemptions and on fares flown as part of a Virgin Australia Holidays package.

Status Credits are used to determine your Velocity membership level. The higher your membership level, the greater the benefits you will receive."

Does any one know for sure?

Cheers.

Unless any seat awards are specifically excluded from the double SC offer there is no reason for them to be ineligible. IMO those any seat awards will appear to be a cash paid fare in the computer system. The only difference is how you paid. So that's the theory.

ISTR that I earned double SC on an any seat award earlier this year but would have to dig into my records to check. Hence I can't give you a 100% confirmation. But you could always suck it and see.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
