I searched through 25 pages of threads but couldn't see anything posted.

Had a ROK-BNE flight last night to get me to 400 SCs a few days before my anniversary. Pre-allocated 4D on E190 and when I went to check-in yesterday morning 2D was available so I allocated it. There was only 1A and 2A on the other side both allocated and I thought the seat map was wrong.

Arrived in ROK on QF flight and went to check-in and was offered earlier flight which I politely refused. Got boarding pass and had a couple of beers in Qantas lounge.

Sure enough they were business class seats. That was a surprise and 1A remained vacant.

Second surprise was a snack (cheese and crackers) and beer.

Not bad for a ~$60 flight. I think I know where I am going next time I need some SCs. ;)

I'm not a 100% sure but I think they don't actually sell J on that route. Hence all seats are "Y"

i flew ROK-BNE yesterday in 1A, and will fly back monday in 1A, those routes that are sold in Y only if you have Gold/Plat you can seat assign in advance or select at checkin,,,, ohh and yes, you get a "snack" and the juice, coffee, tea, water options.

did a dummy booking just now, one logged in as myself the other not, and i could select any free seat including row 1 and 2, the other non status was from row 11....

This occurred to me recently on a MEL-LST flight. VA do sell J on that route, but not that flight which seemed a bit strange. Can't complain though, always nice to sit up front!

Which is what surprised me.

Anyway can't complain. One of the better VA services and crew. Looked quite professional until she started giggling halfway through the safety demonstration.

what's funny is the same thing happened on my flight, VA1248, Karen the CSM forgot one of her crews names during the safety demo, fumbled, and was laughing..... but you must have been on an earlier hop as you said it was a E-190 not a 738.

was it rough for you John? was a bit 'fun' out of ROK and into BNE for sure! seatbelt sign left on the whole flight.

A client has booked me a rtn BNE-ROK next week. I though great, I'll seat select now so I get J seats.......until I logged in and saw what flights they booked. I hate clients booking fares, they have no idea that no one with half a brain wants to endure an ATR.

Oh well, I can see a fly ahead will be used on the way home! So I'll only be stuck with one dud sector.

I fly most weeks BNE-ROK and love this aspect of the VA service. Although I'm only SG so it's not possible if I end up on one of the heavily loaded FIFO flights and the mining WPs snag the J seats before they open up for the golds.

It sure beats flying QF on the Dash - quite funny that my boss only flies QF so endures the Dash and I usually fly up in a J seat on a 737 or E190 which is faster, quieter and more comfortable. Sometimes brand loyalty is a funny thing.
