My understanding is that you will only drop to silver, even if you earn no status credits for the year (commonly called soft landing), so no need to worry about taking unnecessary flights just to retain silver. If lounge access is all you're really worried about, purchase just as you drop from gold (though as I've mentioned, you should only drop to silver, so you should be able to purchase lounge access at the discounted rate). Other more knowledgeable members will quickly correct me if I'm wrong!

I got to silver joined the lounge then 2 months later hit gold and they refunded the fee minus 2 months worth. Faith in Virgin restored.

Hi all, newbie here. I'm currently 130 SCs and 6 segments from Platinum, with 30 SCs and 2 segments expiring on 1 November this year.

I've had a skim through the thread and wanted to know if Webjet is still the place to find good fares for mileage runs? I am based in Sydney. At the moment the only possible upcoming trip I would have is SYD-ADL-SYD, which is looking like it might be after 1 November. Otherwise I am considering SYD-xBNE/MEL-AKL-xBNE/MEL-SYD if the price is right.

Any tips or suggestions for my path to WP?

How can I get access to this spreadsheet ? Sorry for stupid question
You need some posts and time under your belt. I am not sure of the numbers but I would suggest 100 posts and about 6 months.

lobo76 is the holder of the keys. Find the spreadsheet thread and the instructions for access are there.

Reality is that the spreadsheet was useful whilst you could earn SC on award fares.

Now it's just a matter of paid fares. Anything in the $5-7/SC range is good (and it will often be multi-leg fares).

Virgin Atlantic Premium to HKG was a good earn but now gone.

Welcome cnosaj,

1. Family pooling if it can work for you
2. PE saver across the ditch from either HBA BNE or MEL
Cheers, PJ

Okay, everyone, this is a really silly question, but how do I see how many SCs are allocated to each flight? I'm looking at the fare rules and I can't see anything.

I'm looking in the wrong place, aren't I?

I booked an economy reward flight Brisbane-Perth in June using points. I also used my free amex flight this year Perth-Syd (return).

Anyone know if these flights are eligible for SC?

Neither will get you the SCs. Any Seat Award flights would have, but no one in there right mind would throw away that many more extra points for SCs when you can get it on the cheap paying for cheap Y/Y+ seats

Thanks for the reply. What's the difference between an Any Seat Award Flight and an Economy Reward flight?

Any award seat is always available assuming there's an economy seat for sale. They basically convert cash to points. Reward seat isn't always available and is a lot cheaper at fixed amounts.

Hi guys, I've booked 2 tickets through Etihad flying TSV-BNE-SIN-AUH-DME & return, I'm trying to work out the Velocity status credit earn rates on this ticket. The fare basis codes on my ticket: VKAP60AU & QKRTAU. I'm assuming the fare buckets are V & Q?

Yup, and those fall into the discount economy bracket.

Been looking at some flexis before my upgrades expire mid-September and maybe luck in a coast to coast for next year. The price of these has certainly increased a bit.

Some interesting pricing from the capital though.
