Totally Lie Flat Seats - LAX- SYD and the 747 vs 380 Experience

I am going to LAX-SYD-CBR in J for ANZAC Day 2015. The last time I went in 2012, the 747 out of LAX and SYD were angled which I did not like much. I understand all of the 380s and some 747s have fully flat seats now. Is this still true and is there anyway to tell?

Also, what is your opinion of the upgraded 747s vs the 380 in J?

Same skybed seating - the 744 skybeds likely newer with less 'droop' than the 388 skybeds.

Check the seat maps before booking - an upgraded 744 has a row 5.

And the trick is to use your rollaboard/carry-on under the foot of the skybed to fix any droop.
 
I got 5B on a points upgrade in June on QF108 the JFK to SYD (via LAX). Was lie flat and awesome. Although i should have gotten an extra pillow as the original one i got was terrible.
But yeh as above the seat maps will tell you if you are on a refurbished plane or not.

I recently came back from Dallas on QF8 on the refurbed 7447ER and loved it. I had 14A upstairs (exit row) and I found this to be a great seat, easy to get out of as you just walk forward. It is also seems surprisingly private as the A,B seats are slightly forward of the J, K on the other side. Had a fantastic seven hours sleep !
