TG lounge SYD

I suppose if they won't let you in, they won't let you in (and they can always quote the "get out" excuse.....)

I don't like the sound of that, where is this "get out" excuse written?
I thought the *A rules are very clear in favour of the pax who are flying TG F.

That seems to be very true and contributes to their "immunity", amongst other things which people often accuse them of being against the spirit of the alliance.

SQ are the only airline in *A to not play along in regards to painting aircraft in the *A livery. They still don't have the black tail (although this one has been played off as superstitious reasons).

I would guess capacity.

Not quite true...I'm fairly sure I flew one SQ B777 which was painted in *A livery with black five-star tail.

Yes, this is what I'm thinking. But the net result is even if you stood your ground, the grievance is often not worth the time and effort if the answer at the time will simply be "no entry, use other lounge", let alone if submitting a complaint later to the airline will result in any more than a simplistic apology.

I would guess capacity.

Last time I was the only one there and had a long talk with the manager. He said most TG pax don't even know this lounge exists and go directly to Koru as instructed by the check-in agents. He also said most SQ F pax don't bother spending much time in this lounge. I left 90 minutes before the next SQ A380 flight and there was just one couple in the lounge at that time.
So if SQ agents try to use the capacity excuse I would be very doubtful and asking to see it with my own eyes.

Tbh, I find the SQ lounge staff to be a mixed bunch but have never been denied entry on a TG F flight. Although most times there is no food or limited food as the SQ afternoon flight leaves earlier than the TG one.

They may have relented and actually painted one or two properly. But they most certainly resisted for a long time.

Yeah, I doubt that they are very often (or ever) at capacity.

It's funny as some people would posit that a lounge is not large enough / is "at capacity" if there are not a certain number of seats which are free. And I'm not referring to if there are zero or few seats free.

I know a few people have complained about the EK F lounge in DXB being "crowded", which is defined as having four seats around a small table to yourself and then someone is 'forced' to take one of the three remaining seats. Or basically having to sit within five metres of someone else.

Sorry, that's a bit O/T...

I entered the SKL this morning with no fuss, though they did very gently enquire would I "rather use this than the NZ lounge".

I wonder what is their prerogative for enquiring as such. Surely they are not attempting to insinuate that the NZ lounge is superior. (That proposition may or may not change when NZ finally get down and deliver their long awaited SYD lounge renovation).

I can only guess at their reticence, but if every *A entitled pax were to go there it could be overwhelmed. In the event, this morning, there was just myself and one other person.

Oh absolutely. Although the MEL NZ lounge does get rather crowded in the evenings. Ie. no seats at all when I was there, which was a stark contrast to the SQ lounge which had 5 people in it.

I wonder how many *A F pax and solitaire members fly from SYD in any given day. Even if everyone will access the lounge, not sure it will be 100% full.

I saw this today:

...

No black

Ah well, fair enough - must be the same one I flew, 9V-SWJ.

Thought it was black; obviously looking at it at night was not the best idea:!: Until I read up, I didn't even know that SQ was the only exception in *A to have a *A tail with a white (rather than black) tail. I also further misunderstood your statement to mean that SQ was the only carrier in *A without a single aircraft in *A livery (i.e. the distinctive black tail with five stars livery).

That's fair.

SQ did use to refuse to paint the *A logo on the tail of their *A livery aircraft. They had the white fuselage withe the *A titles and their own tail. A little like the OneWorld livery. As you can see. They now have the logo on what appears to be a silver tail.
