Hi. I recently flew Jetstar on a Starter Plus bundle from Sydney to Launceston return. The calculator shows that economy flights receive 20 SC and 1200 pts each way. My statement showed 10 SC and 800 pts. I called the QFF service centre who said there was an error in the table (and thanked me for pointing it out) and that buried in the earning table was the correct amount as credited. I'm a little annoyed as I used the calculator to check before I booked. They promised to investigate. I don't know if this is the only error but thought a warning might be useful to others not to depend on the calculator.

Welcome to AFF, PassengerX

Does appear the answer is correct.

SYD-LST is 568miles which puts it in the lowest band of 0-750mi (was 0-600mi before the changes)
Starter Plus earns at Discount Economy rate (so 10 SCs, 800pts)
Starter Max earns at Economy rate (so 20 SCs, 1200pts)
-- this is clear from the Jetstar fare types page
-- Fare Types | Jetstar

The fare calculator only lists Discount Economy and Economy (not the Jetstar fare types).

Did you accidentally select the Economy rate?

Under the new system, Starter Plus earns at Economy and Starter Max earns at Flexible Economy.

The relevant pages on Jetstar's web site haven't been updated, but the QFF T&Cs have.

That said, unless QFF just made the corrections recently, Starter Plus - hence Economy fare band - earns 10SC and 400 points for under 750mi flight. Since 800 points minimum is guaranteed for Economy fare class, the points awarded is bumped up.

Seems Anatol is correct

According to the new Qantas T&Cs.

Code:
[FONT=fixedsys]Earn JQ Dom/Int QF Domestic Only QF International
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nothing JQ Starter
Disc Econ -------------- Red-EDeal (EGNOQSX) Econ Sale (NOQX)
Economy JQ Starer Plus ----------------------------- Econ Saver (GKLMSV)
Flex Econ JQ Starter Max Flexi/ Fully (BHKLMVY) Econ Flex/ PE Sale (BHY/TZ)[/FONT]

What is incorrect however is the Qantas table for Economy points - which for these Domestic flights should be the same for Disc Econ and Economy.
An Economy SYD-MEL, SYD-LST should be 10/800
but is instead reported as 20/1200.

Assume this is because Qantas has introduced the new Flex Econ category, but hasn't updated the domestic earnings for Economy (which only apply to JQ Starter fares, as there are no QF fares that fit this category.

It's a problem with the new calculator which reports economy at the wrong higher earn for domestic flights.

Seems the new earning table is so simple not even Qantas knows how it works.

Albeit the only place (I believe) that shows the starter plus earn economy credits is the t&c's that also has the correct table with 10/800

Or if you Google jetstar fare types you get told it's discount economy.

Either way it's sure not simpler

It's established consumer law that a lot of very accurate fine print buried in a document can't compensate for a misleading representation in bold type on the cover.

Is the earning calculator front cover though? It's not as easy to find as what it used to be.

Was the amount correct in the earning table?

The earning table in the T&Cs is correct (I have a copy from the first day the new system was instituted, and it has not changed). According to this table, the OP received the correct amount of credit.

The Earning Points Calculator is reporting the wrong amount for Economy class. There's likely a good case to ask for some goodwill points in light of this, although QF could play hardball and insist the calculator is merely a guide (it says this at the bottom of the calculator results page) and the T&Cs prevail.

Spot on Anatol. QF have said no to any SC and points credit as the calculator is just a guide and the table is correct. They did add a note to my query saying they would take it into consideration if there is an issue with status requalification, I guess if I am just 20 SC away.

Maybe we should start a thread listing everything that's right on the QF website.
At least it would be short.

To be fair, most of it is correct. Just not the parts that matter the most here.

I kinda disagree. In this example, I'd say the earning table is what most here would consult, and not really bother with the calculator. That table is correct. Whereas for the average person in the street the calculator is probably the first port of call.

Then again perhaps I shouldn't assume most here like to dig into tables in the T&Cs. ;)

I sort of agree with medhead on this point, however, I would add that - when erroneous or contradictory information about earning points/SCs is published and presented on the official QF website then the more advantageous of the two should be awarded to the customer. This encourages clear and accurate consumer information. If its good enough for retail stores then I say its good enough for airlines as well.

The opinion made which I was responding to referred to the "QF website", not just QFF (sections) let alone this case.

I guess I was being too "technical" in my response by referring to the entire QF website.

But your point is noted and correct.

I agree - 'entering' the web site from the home page, most navigation points one to the calculator, not obscure links to the points table - in fact, those table links are really not obvious.

Even, the "Flying" page is like this with direct link to the calculator but not tables:

Frequent Flyer - Flying Qantas & Partner Airlines

Might there be any reference to the old pre June 30th changes?

Only for the folks who have pre booked flights in regards to ASA and "booked before"....
