Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

That's generally a good sign... what does it say under your Activity Statement when you log in to your account?

Hi ketsuzei, it says "24 JUN 14 QANTAS & JETSTAR ANY SEAT AWARD 1 ADT" .. which is a good thing given there's a ~$300 difference in the co-pay from a Classic Award !!

I guess that confirms the MASA bit, just need to work out if it'll cost me to cancel ...

Regards,

BD

You're good to go on the MASA front. Cancellation costs do vary, and you won't be able to find them anywhere else, but I reckon it would probably be free for your flight.

Otherwise, just keep calling and asking for the fare conditions until you like what you hear, and then note the time of your call.

I've just done the whole

- Activity Statement shows classic

- Confirm UBPASROW

- Call and get bemusement

- Call again and get more bemusement

- Call again and get a sympathetic ear but no results

- Call again and get it sorted out

thing again.

I'll almost miss it.

Once again a big thank you to everyone on AFF that kept us informed and educated about ASAs. I've just done my last one, SYD-LAX, in J which means I've re-qualified for another year of SG plus snagged another Loyalty Bonus, a few days before my membership year ends on 30 June. Much appreciated!

Looking for the conditions of your mASA ?

Just noticed some bookings on checkmytrip.com have conditions of the mASA.

Not all of them, but many of my bookings do. Here is an example of a JASA.
I need to manually 'expand' the General Remarks box after viewing the booking.

Matches the $300 fee I was charged for changing dates on our SYD-LHR FASA

Re: Successful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

I just tried booking a BNE-SYD-BNE flight for May 2015... the CSA quoted me 32,000 points plus $430. Has the co-payment gone up or should I keep trying?

That's way too high, unless there is a 'Final MASA week Q-Surcharge'.

Nothing there for this little black duck ... :(

Booked my final JASA last night. SYD-ADL this Saturday to re-qualify my gold before 30 June refresh date.

Still have one more to fly from LAX-SYD in May next year. Hopefully with some work flights, I'll retain gold next year with that flight :).

I stopped booking domestic JASA's a few weeks ago when the co pays effectively doubled. Had three different agents check and confirm. They even referenced my previous bookings to check my story.

international co pay's do not seem to have had a similar hike given what is being reported here.

I have noticed a $5 per pax hike in domestic J Classic Award copay which has been directly replicated in the JASA copay, but I have not seen a doubling of copay for domestic JASAs.

Would there be a kindly Expert Flyer out there who could help me with fare rules on TSV-KTA? Is it even valid? Or would it price as, for example, "TSV-ADL" + "ADL-KTA"?

Planning a last hurrah, ex BNE mASA-mini-marathon to visit a friend in KTA, then thought of trucking it up to start from TSV to get in the extra sector... thus: TSV-BNE-ADL-PER-KTA (and return). I could only find one similar example in the spreadsheet but it wasn't helpful.

Thanks in advance!

I have been quoted a cop pay 0f $382 fro BNE-SYD-BNE JASA when it used to be about $200 and less. Happy to hear it might have stopped as I still have '000's to burn.

BNE-KTA is better. Via ADL was the best under the old earning system, but the disadvantage of having to use 737s.

Thanks all for the community of tips on this topic - sad to see it coming to an end. I just successfully booked my last one - under 10mins and the fella said he'd only ever done 1 before but was good and smart and got it all worked out!

Thanks, that's what I ended up doing, via MEL (better under the new earning system) but I conceded to a direct routing the other way, dropping the Coopers stop (ADL) and sacrificing 40 SC (net) to fit schedule and availability... but I still have quite a J (U) class domestic marathon to look forward to, >50% SG renewal AND best of all I get to see a mate for the weekend!

Jun 14 | Mar 15 | J | CBR-MEL-HBA-MEL-CBR | 32,000 | $296.24 + CC fee | ? | ? | 160sc

I very brief call with Shane in BNE saw the above flights booked 'tout de suite'. He was very proficient, and it seems as though he had done a few of these recently.

I now have 1,980 points in my FF account - and that is after a 5,000 point family transfer in order to have enough for the transactions. So I guess I have a net -3,020 points.

Next CC points posting will see that repaid.

5 days to go.

I booked the exact same in March and it was $211.98 per pax according to the spreadsheet. Have you obtained quotes since then?

I've also changed the dates of that one twice since booking.

I can understand the confusion though since its not documented anywhere and none of the agents knew the answer to my question until they made a shell booking and went through the motions. But please confirm this with your agent before you cancel and rebook all your JASAs and blame me!

Earn rates for "MASAs" from 1 July 2014 are: X class (Discount Economy), Z class (Flexible Economy), U class (Business), and P class (First).

Please see the Airline Earning Table (located at the very bottom of this page) as reference. Hope this helps.

Yes....I had some JASA's booking in Dec Jan and Feb and they were all around that price. the two quotes early this month for BNE SYD BNE were exactly the same at $382. I tried different operators and different flights/days. Operators checked my previous booking and were unable to explain the price difference......At that price I didn't bother making the bookings and have stopped trying, using classics instead in Y.
