LOL, there are days when it works like clockwork and there are days where it all falls apart :(

The flight was showing as on time right up to the scheduled departure time. Then suddenly is two hours late at a different gate. So it must have happened spontaneously. ..

Anyway I'm in the right country now at least. So it's not too bad

I don't think so. If my liver is already damaged 1 week is not going to make any difference to the scans. And I am going to do the complex blood test next week which is ~4 weeks before the scans and they won't see my until September.

The gastroenterologist advised me to stop drinking. I said to him "You do realise why I am drinking don't you?". He just looked at me and sort of nodded. He then asked me to cut down on the drinking as much as possible.

This is all scary stuff for me and a thousand things are running through my mind. Life is certainly not easy. But a little easier for me than the English bloke who came to my reception in Chiang Mai and I met for the first time. He is the fiancee of my fiancees friend. Diagnosed with liver cancer. Chemotherapy has been delayed due to complications requiring surgery and he just checked out of hospital for a few days to go home as they cannot afford the hospital costs in Thailand.

You liver may be functioning in a different way a week later due to changes in you diet or metabolism. Given your luck, as you explain it, what if the scans contradict each other because of some random change during the week? Anyway that's all I'm thinking about. No doubt the doctors around here will correct me if that's not possible.

Any cancer sucks. But hopefully if they thought cancer they'd just do a PET scan.

Apologies to the doctors on AFF but this is the public health system. Why do today that which you can do next month?

They had a concern with my liver over 3 months ago. Saw me last month and now I have to wait another 3 months. I don't mind wasting my time waiting but hope there is nothing seriously wrong.

But you're not waiting 3 months. You're having the scan this week. In fact all 3 scans this week if you wanted. If those scans show anything serious then you'll get a call much sooner than 3 months.

Oh look. Fried rice and all day warmer soup. When virgin serve this it is called childish rubbish. Is it still childish rubbish now that Qantas have presented it in a Qantas club?View attachment 30371

Exactly - but it is the public system and they are unlikely to do that until after the liver biopsy.

Was the best scan I ever had - but the most expensive out of pocket I've ever experienced. Worth every cent though ;)

Ok, as a lowly public hospital doc I'll weigh in here.
If I'm really sick, I want to be treated in a public hospital.
I have top level private cover but I expect that it will be of little benefit to me in the event of a sudden life threat.
It will however get me a whole raft of elective and semi-urgent procedures and investigations done and for that I am grateful.
Best wishes JohnK

Pretty much this.

Hope all goes well JohnK :)

Go for the poking and prodding while you are young JohnK and remember you can defeat adversity.

Exactly so!

Have heard the most ridiculous blame the English reason to vote for Scottish Independence.
The SNP are up in arms because on average Scots get 1000GBP less over their lifetime of government pension. The reason is they have a lower life expectancy.
The fact that to fry and egg you put them into a frying pan with at least an inch of oil in plus you then get your toast, put a 1/4 inch of butter on it and then you get the salt shaker and vigorously add a layer of salt to the butter might just be more to blame than the English.

Not this week. The 2 appointments were for 14 July. I changed one to 21 July and the other to 29 July.

Considering I saw them in mid-May then 14 July is a long time to wait for appointment and the follow up appointment in September is even longer.

But that is what you get with the public hospital system. I do not want to give another cent to the private specialists.

Went out for dinner last night and ordered an entree, which was a braise of rabbit with sliced Italian sausage, lentils and some other things.

A very hearty starter worthy of the winter menu, which tasted quite nice. Except for one thing, I thought.

What happened to the rabbit?

The rabbit appeared to have been shredded and mixed in with the lentils. Although it did lend some flavour to the lentils overall, I felt that the whole point of the taste and texture of the rabbit had been lost. You could have maybe substituted in chicken for the rabbit and it might have been just as good (provided you didn't overcook the chicken so its shreds become like eating butchers string).

I don't normally eat a lot of rabbit, but the times I have I think delicate flavour and succulent texture. It also overcooks very easily.

I know there are people here who enjoy eating rabbit; what's your take on this meat?

Well to enjoy rabbit you must go and get it yourself.
I went rabbit shooting once.Blazed away without hitting anything.About to give up when we saw this rabbit mesmerised by the headlights.I took aim, pulled the trigger and the rabbit just stood there.Several richochets later it dropped.Got it right between the eyes.My last shot ever.
The rabbit did taste good though.

I asked a Salvation Army collector if they saved wicked women. And could they please save one for me.
I asked a religous door knocker whether they would like to join my religion and since I was planning to sacrifice a Virgin that evening, they were welcome to come along...
