I would like to book (2) business class award seats to DFW for May 2015. I have been looking each and every day and cannot find any availability. Could this be due to it now being a direct A380 flight. There is the odd availability via London but want the direct flight.
Any help would be appreciated. I am extremely flexible with days. Thank you in anticipation of your advice.

Welcome to Qantas Frequent Flyer. :)

Unforunately I cannot say I am surprised. The DFW route is one that is performing well for QF and so it probably makes sense for them to only release as many J seats as they have to. They will try and sell as many as possible rather than give them away. Although with the ridiculous surcharges etc I am sure they do make some money on award seats (besides taking our points).

Do you have points with any other airline?

No . I have been saving points for 4 years for this trip. Our son lives in Texas with his family. We always do it in Y but are getting on in years and thought some comfort would be a nice treat!!!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

You may want to look at other options. Do you have status with QF? If Platinum, then award seats can be requested. If not, I don't know if much else can be done unfortunately.

Thank you! Will just keep looking in the hope two may turn up as they sometimes do.

As of today 30May, seats for QF7 have been released to May 18. I suggest keep looking.
Alternatively, I would look for SYD-LAX on either QF107 and QF11, as you may have more luck there. AA connection from LAX-DFW are easy and relatively inexpensive.

If willing to go via LAX then you might also consider routes via MEL/BNE and even NAN. Unfortunately awards on AA from LAX-DFW won't appear until 331 days out.

Just like you, I've been waiting for 2 J award seats to become available with no luck.

By the way I have yet to see any F award seats available on this route. Has anyone had any luck?

After searching now for months (looking forward), I am convinced Sydney to LAX J awards simply do not exist.

F would only be available on the A380 which starts in September on that route. I wonder if Qantas adjusted the F award to reflect this from September onwards once it announced it was changing from the 744, or is this an omission.

Move over to Velocity and you'll be able to book J awards much more easily. I suppose the QF J product is nicer yes and I do like the A380 but I was able to book 4 J awards to LAX with VA and I think doing that would be very difficult with QFF. Not to forget the surcharges/taxes/fees with VA were about $100
