A caller just called talk back radio and stated her husband and a colleague were denied QF lounge access at OOL due to being on a Jetstar flight. Stated QF staff say its a new rule they are being made to enforce and are embarrassed to do so.
Anyone else copped this??

First I have heard of it, and would require a change to the access T&Cs.

Talk back radio. Turns out not to be true. Nah, never heard of that before, if I hear it on 2GB it must be true!

Some how I doubt this is true, or at least half the story, more likely the lounge was at or beyond capacity and they were turned away because of that?
Anyway could be wrong, but I usually take what I hear on talkback radio with a grain of salt, not that I listen to it, though hear it frequently in cabs. :D

QF only has 3x 737 flights a day departing OOL which is hardly enough to even fill half the lounge (considering not everyone has status or QC membership).

1.07:15 to 13:50 and 16:40 to 18:40 Mon-Fri

2. 07:55 to 14:05 and 16:40 to 18:40 Sat-Sun
The Gold Coast QC (annoyingly) closes in the middle of the afternoon when there are a few J* flights (and pax!!) around...

Its called the Qantas Club.
Jetstar passengers should never be allowed in there anyway. JOKING!

Very wrong for pax who have paid for Max fares!

JQ should charge less for their Max bundles for those flights that depart during the closures since not all benefits offered by the Max bundle are being honoured.

Its possible if they were trying to get in near closing time.

Your suggestion Dmac6345 would be a joke except this practice is (most likely) another case of QF covering costs (QC lounge access) while J* record the pax fare revenue (?).

One thing I have noticed at OOL lounge is they have a sheet that the lounge attendant keeps a tally of the number of JQ or QF pax that enter based on boarding pass presented. I have not seen this happen at other QF domestic lounges.

I have seen that in CNS.

Yes, CNS and PER if my memory serves me correctly.

You are totally correct, or if they are JQ should be paying QF $50 per entry

Unfortunately you are correct

QF lounge entries are not even recorded, you just show your boarding pass and enter

VA at least "force you" to be scanned in so they know how many people are coming through the door.

NB: Not sure if there are even automated/laser/heat door counters at the QF lounges either!

Seems to be a common theme here, all the ports QF doesn't care about or has mostly Jetstar-ised! :D

PER domestic or international? If it's the former I'd hardly call the domestic ops jetstarized.

I was in there a few weeks ago prior to a JQ flight - and took a couple of non-status guests in with me (I'm WP and had paid extra for a max bundle or whatever its called, but they hadn't).....

were they confirmed QF status holders/club members? or had the pax maybe qualified through AA?

Were the pair members of QP?
That is the main question.
I am a member of QP, and flew JQi a few weeks ago, SYD to MEL, JQ35, and had my card scanned and had to show BP and got into the QF J QP i at SYD.
