Ladies , is a solo female FF who frequents First Lounges a rare breed indeed?

I travel a lot on my own. Just love it. Always make sure I fly via Sydney or Melbourne to use the FLounge. Very happy sitting in the restaurant by myself. However I also like treating friends and family to the FLounge as well.

I'm pretty much the same. I'm very comfortable by myself and I love travelling alone. It's great to share the Flounge with loved ones but being brutally honest here, I'm much more relaxed alone

.....no conferences about what to eat, where to meet, what to see....that lovely silence....:D

A lesson I've recently learnt  I remember why I love solo travel.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Currently in the BKK lounge, and I think I'm quite possibly the only solo female flyer here. A few other ladies, but they appear to be with travel companions. There are more female staff present than all the woman here! The guys though, many as usual and yes, most seem to be solo flyers themselves.

Wonder if that's a normal thing, or skewed because of recent disruptions?

Quite possibly due to the happenings here. Usually it's fairly quiet; I was informed J is just about full but Y is not really full at all. :)

will be interesting to see the cabin gender distribution (passengers and crew).

i was completely surprised on VA2 last week to have 3 male cabin crew and 1 girl... no complaints, but surprised at how many male cabin crew there were.

safe and enjoyable travels!

VA23/24 were all female crew in J last month...

Funny about real and *non-real* doctors... and a lot of medical doctors don't know what the word "doctor" means..

I've been asked once when boarding a long haul flight a couple of years ago if I was a medical doctor when the FA saw my BP.
During another long haul flight last year the CSM did the WP greeting and called me doctor. Then later in the flight they made an announcement for medical assistance.

When I first became a non-real doctor I was really young and hardly ever got called doctor probably because of how I looked. A few years later I got to WP and on occasion would not be called doctor even when looking at the BP (it's usually the ones that stare at the BP for a while that don't end up calling you doctor, ha!). A couple of years later I became a doctor again (a real one this time) and am still kinda young but maybe get called it more. But in more recent times when I ask people how old they think I am, the responses are lower than what I got a few years ago!

My brother is a medical "doctor" and I like to joke about him not being a real doctor... obviously I'm not, but if I was in such a position I would still joke at myself not being a real doctor!

Confusing much? :D

Crew: 2 females (J)
Passengers: 5 female (J) - from a very quick look around.

J was full Y wasn't even close.

SYD QP is packed!!! Rather reminds me of the front bar at my local back in ADL . . . .

I find pretty much 99.5% of things are more relaxed on one's own. :)

Geez Hos, I had no idea you were soooo smart. It's good to know and I will listen more closely to your advice when there is another CBR meet up - maybe when spring has sprung and we can venture out of our burrows.

re closely to

It's just a title; no relation to brain prowess I'm afraid ;-)

Sure thing on the CBR meet up... just give me a heads up when you plan to be in town.

There's a guy in my course who bought dental loupes and on the case it has a plaque with "Dr A. ZZZZ". According to him the company didn't give an option as to which title was used on the plaque on the box. We gave him a little cough for using the title "Dr" while:
  1. Not being a real doctor
  2. Not being a medical doctor
  3. Not having graduated from dental school (yet)

He has since taped over the plaque.

Sounds like you are at JCU?

I would imagine that most medical doctors (certainly in Australia) will never become real doctors because there is very little benefit or interest to doing so...

Nah, just residing in CNS and traversing to SYD every week for USYD like a true frequent flyer (if only that were true :( haha) But yeah not hard to connect the dots on which uni I go to.

As for doctors becoming real doctors. Technically I guess some will be, considering UNSW (supposedly in a couple of years), USYD, UQ, Griffith, Flinders, ANU, UWA and UMEL award MD's which are professional doctorates. Speaking of which there are dentists with professional doctorates UMEL (DDS), USYD (DMD), UWA (DMD). But I guess professional doctorates open up a whole new can of worms (probably for a different thread too...)

Completely off-topic, but when I bought my loupes (directly from company in US for 1/2 the price in Aus) I could choose to put anything on the arms. Most encouraged was Dr Artemis, MD but there were photos of engravings such as "Heartstopper" or "legend"...

Having accumulated a few degrees at Bachelor and Masters levels, I thought about a PhD to pursue an academic career, but it just doesn't seem to add enough. Certainly to be an academic surgeon in the states, you don't require a PhD... and I'd rather be a clinical academic, than a lab-based academic...

Haha, I bet all the real professors snigger at the clinical professors out there, for not being real professors.. or real doctors, for that matter.
The next level of snide doctorate remarks!
