Haven't flown it, but it looks fantastic. Most reviews so far seem to place it somewhere between "pretty good", "fantastic", and "oh god anything is better that those old hideous 762s"

As for US runs, GoldMember has that ridiculous ability to find post-simplification status runs for around $1-2 per SC . The majority tend to be into the tropical climates, but how he gets those fares is beyond me. A mere mortal using the Matrix like me can barely find fares twice or three times as much :shock:

Not yet but flying on A321 on 19 Set from SFO to JFK, unfortunately only in J. I will report on the experience

In April, I flew on the new AA A321 in F from JFK to LAX. For a domestic service, the hard product was very good. The F seat is similar to an international J seat. Far better than the standard AA F / QF J domestic equipment. Seating is 1-1 in F and fully lie flat. Also better than the EK 77W J long haul seat if you have flown in that (which is not hard).

The service and the meal were not bad for an American airline, but nothing special. AVOD on demand on a good size monitor as well. Entertainment was more up to date than QF was showing in the same month.

Overall, if the price is acceptable, I would certainly aim to fly on the new AA A321 F again versus any other AA aircraft.

What do you mean price being acceptable, do you mean in cash or miles ? How much is the usual cash price ?
It is far from a bargain if using AA miles, they were asking 90k for SJU-JFK-LAX with the 321 only on the JFK-LAX leg obviously. Excessive considering MEL-DXB-LHR on QF F can be had for 80k lol.

Yeah - that was a 'mistake fare' with certain flight numbers not being correctly blocked from YUPP in the fare rules.

I am booked on a similar flight departing 1pm Thursday, LAX-JFK.

These seats normally go for no less than about USD2K one-way in First.

A321B is a designation.

As for the 'fairer' QFF earning, it's not 40 SC's on these as they currently only fly transcontinental, so over the 750 miles barrier.

I'm flying Aug 1 JFK-LAX in F on a QF Award and am looking forward to testing it out. Have been flying VX on that route in recent years due to the abysmal previous AA offering.

Which is better ?
MIA-LAX 777 F and JFK-LAX 32B F costs roughly the same so just wondering which one is a goer ?
Probably the 777 being a larger plane with wider seat etc ?
Does JFK have a better lounge ?

Yeah it's pretty good, I flew LAX-JFK in J on one. No aisle access from window seat.

I did a brief write up in my TR on my F experience in April.

The F seat is almost identical to Cathay J class IMHO.

Paid $489 JFK -> LAX and certainly didn't complain.

Not really a "mistake" fare, more like flight number changes made such possible. There are P class fares filed for LAX/JFK but certain flight numbers are excluded. I flew one a fortnight ago for USD515 - my flight number was only excluded after 9th June.

Booked one from LAS - JFK at the same price too.

I did periodically check fares, and closer to the date the F fares were over $2.5K.

I booked these flights about 3 months out from travel if that helps?

Also flew in F JFK-LAX on one of the YUPP fares. The F seat is very comfortable, just about identical to their international J seat. Food and service wise were nothing extraordinary but very good for domestic service.

How does one get AA F LAX-JFK for $400-$500 exactly?

Certain flight numbers were blocked from being used for YUPP type fares to prevent that.

However, when the flight number changes and there's a short hiatus between that and the fare rules catching up etc., these fares have been bookable on them.

I travelled LAX-JFK earlier this month fur USD515 due ti it being a specific flight number. The flight before an after were USD2K+, even though all had P class available.

On Wednesday I flew LAX-NYC in Y on an A321 and it was pretty good. I had access to the Main Cabin Extra when selecting seats and chose the exit row ones. Lots of leg room, seats comfortable, only downside was no window so missed seeing the NYC skyline on the way in. One thing I would avoid is the regular Y seats, they looked awfully tight.

Have to say the AA check-in was good too, had a travel companion with me and they straight away comped his checked baggage due to my SG status, no problem.

Wow, how American has changed. I fly mostly long haul F and can be a very hard marker; in fact, I stopped flying AA and switched to Virgin America because their old F was dreadful.

For a Domestic First product, it really is at least as good as CX Business, not just the seat (they're the same) but the service was excellent, food and (to my surprise) coffee both really good.

Check in flawless, lounge staff super friendly. Nothing two hard.

Big tick for the new American.

Good for transcontinentals to JFK, my partner recently did F in 757 transcon too... LAX to MIA. Apparently not quite so good... but price about 1/3 of 321 F I guess you get what you pay for.
