Hi all,

I was calculating my status points and realised that I'm going to be 320 points away from Platinum one this year. Is it worth stretching or doing a status credit run to reach it?

A friend of mine who was BA gold guest list (P1 equiv) always got a personal escort to take him through immigration and security. Does P1 give this?

Thanks

If I was 320 status credits short, then yes I would go for it.

No personal escort for me through security or immigration.

That is very close. I would go for it even without an escort through immigration.

Worth strecthing for Platinum One?

Can you ask your friend if he wants to trade his BA gold guest list for my P1? I'll also add an LTG as extra bonus ;)
Seriously now, if it doesn't cost you much then I think you should go for it.

Yes, I'd probably go for it, just for the sake of having it and not to die wondering.
And the only time I get escorted through immigration and security is with TG. (Aside, that is, from after being offloaded for being drunk and disorderly)

It really depends on your flying patterns. If you do a lot of domestic flying the only difference is access to row 4 in whY.

If you fly a lot of intl, things get better with free exit rows and anecdotally more upgrades.

Personally if you get those 320 on a JASA then do it, if you have to pay for it, forget it, it just isn't worth it.

Most of us have been underwhelmed ( to varying degrees) with WP1

I would say if that close go for it HOWEVER do not expect things to be any better than it is with WP. The Plat 1 Team can be good when things go wrong other than that not much better. Main Benefit is that you will drop down to Platinum if you don't requalify for P1 or even don't requalify for Plat whilst exploring other airline and alliance options :D

I agree with Reload do it on a JASA whilst you still can.

Happy flying.

NO !!!! It is the biggest load of broken promises ever. If you're after lots of attitude and rudeness from the SST in Canberra then go for it. I get everything done with the Premium Desk who are fantastic…have no reason to call SST - they truly are a waste of time.

I think its fair to say that everyone has had differing experiences with the SST, mine is of a polar opposite where i have had nothing but great service.

As they say around here YMMV.

Funkyr, I agree that if you're that close to P1 then you might as well give it a go, however as a P1 for two years now I can say that the programme is underwhelming, poorly defined and not worth exerting oneself for too much.

I have always found the SST very friendly although unable to help me when I've needed them most. (Due apparently to my bookings having been made through a travel agent, and therefore untouchable!). I had a 737 flight sim experience and a theatre ticket early on which was great, but nothing over the last 18 months or so. Upgrades occur at a similar rate to being a WP and crew greetings have dwindled too.

The P1 offering is I think diagnostic of the overall patchy approach by QF to product, service etc.

Ebaying Qtags! Aren't Q-tags coded to your QFF number & would conflict with your boarding pass if they aren't yours?

Nope they just have a unique number which gets attached to your booking when you do luggage drop off.

Anyone can use them.

Scan your FF card to check in, head over to luggage drop off and scan it again, scan the Q-Tag (this where the link happens) and send the bag on its way!

Or don't scan ... but attach them anyway and your bags will try to go to the tag's previous destination. :p

So hardly a personalised service then. I guess it mirrors some of the earlier comments re: the mixed WP product from QF

The major difference between P1 and the original WP is the 24hr dedicated "hotline" which you can call in case you have anything requiring urgent assistance.
But how many urgent calls one needs to make every year? The program should really offer much more then that.

IMHO,

Depends on what sort of travel you do.

International yes...

Domestic not so much worth it...

If anything the cost could be considered as an extra year of WP as a soft landing if your travel patterns change...
