I'm travelling overseas later this year and have just booked 10 nights at a hilton hotel via the QF website.

My questions to the community are -

1. Should I join HH?

2. Can I get both QF and HH points for my stay?

3. How are HH points calculated if I able to collect points for my stay?

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

1. Might as well. Did you book through hilton? Also sign up for the Q2 or Q3 promotion depending on when you are staying. Q2 is double base points or double miles.
Edit- sorry, see the QF site booking bit. Might as well join anyway, get them to add your HH number on checkin or by emailing in advance and you may get some points. Luck of the draw really.

2. Hilton have their "double dip" allowing extra HH points or Base points plus Qantas points. So yes, you can get points for both.

3. Points are earned on $ spend, minus taxes, in USD. Base points are 10 per $ and all bonuses are calculated on this.

I believe that HH are one of the few chains who credit points even if the booking is not through their site.

Nope, not by the T+Cs and not through experience. You may get lucky at times, because their IT is dodgy.

Addn- "Specifically excluded from the definition of "stay" are the following types of ineligible stays: wholesale/tour operator packages; contracted crew rates; travel agency discount rates, packages exclusively for casino player card holders; Team Member Travel rates, Hilton Family Travel Rates; stays secured utilizing Hilton Grand Vacations Club and Hilton Club timeshare programs, Hilton Grand Vacations marketing packages with a sales presentation requirement; complimentary or barter rooms; Reward Stays (as defined herein); NET Group rates; Series Group or IT Group rates; contracted Entertainment or Encore rates; third party websites bookings (irrespective of rate paid); and "opaque" channel bookings where the brand may or may not be known at the time of purchase"

I stand corrected.

I guess then I have been lucky. Or their IT has failed in my favour.

Thanks all.

I'm going to join up and try my luck at check-in!
