Connecting on to 3K at SIN from QF

You will be OK going to transfer desk in SIN. I have witnessed many people transferring to/from 3K in SIN and having their luggage transferred.

Take note HKG is another place where you are able to use the transfer desk to issue boarding pass and transfer luggage. I have done it with an MH to VS connection obviously on separate tickets.

I agree, the transfer desk has always worked for me in the twelve times I used them last year.

Singapore Airport Police are psychos about checking and stamping BPs.
I (at the hotel I was staying in), in Singapore, went to the business centre, to print out on A4 paper, that boarding pass thats accepted for a lot of bookings, with AAX, and even SQ.
But when I got to Changi Airport, guess what one of those guards told me, in half broken English, I had to back track to the check in, (this was when there was an early am dep of QFi from SIN to PER), and get one of those cardboardy type of "proper" boarding passes, like what you get at the airport check in counters in Australia.
After I got the cardboardy BP, I backtracked back to Security Check, and then the BPs were duly stamped, SECURITY CHECKED or something.
Of course, the outsourced checkin girl at the gate then tore up the cardboardy BP, keeping the larger part, and giving me back the smaller part, (tail piece).
Things might have changed since 2012 or so, but expect your BP to be checked at all stages.
No fun!

3Ks straight the gate would not work if checking visits were required.

I am a bit confused by this discussion, so does this mean: (1) if you have a 3K flight booked as part of a QF international ticket (i.e. a QF flight to SIN) your bags are not checked through to the 3K flight?; & (2) if you have a 3K flight with a QF itinerary but it has a QF flight number no points or status credits are earned?

Or are the comments in the thread all about separate QF and 3K bookings?

My understanding of the QF website is any J* flight booked with a QF ticket with a JQ/3K etc flight number earns no points or SC, but a J* flight with a QF number as part of a QF itinerary will earn FFP and SC.

If you book a JQ/3K flight online with them, you need to add the plus pack or max pack to get points/SCs.

If you book it as a QF flight number, it needs to be in a certain fare bucket to earn, one that is normally for more expensive fares.

• Points and Status credits are not earned on Qantas codeshare flights (ie flights with a QF flight number) operated by Jetstar or Jetstar Asia other than in Economy classes of B, H, K, L or Y (earn in L class is eligible only when travelling on a oneworld fare product).

Before I took my last trip to BKK (via SIN) I run QF and checked if my bags would go straight through in SIN onto a 3K flight, but was told clearly the because they were on separate tickets, no can do. I'm very pleased to say the check-in staff at Melbourne First Class Check In, were fantastic! They asked a supervisor and had them checked through to BKK... easy!

Its pretty easy to overlook the subnote! Kind of ironic the only QF flight numbers that are codeshares that dont earn points etc are ones flown by an airline that QF owns either in full or in part in the case of 3K!

Stupid question from a first time 3K flyer!

My last JASA has me arriving SIN on QF81 connecting to 3K513 (SIN-BKK) with a 2h25m transit ... I'll be HLO, on-lined checkin for the 3K flight, and I comply with the "straight to gate" rules.

1. Does this mean I can arrive and go straight to the QF lounge and then board? Pretty sure it does, but this is why they're called stupid Q's!

2. The last 3K flight leaves another 3hrs later than my 3K513 ... surely 2hr25m is a sufficient safety net? I've booked the max bundle for the SC and safety net if we're running late out of SYD.

3. Coming back I've left myself ~5hrs between 3K and QF52 .... can you get a QF BP from 3K in BKK?

All seems foolproof - agree?

All should be fine except for getting the QF BP in BKK - highly unlikely that would work I'd think on a seperate itin, shouldnt be a problem to pick up in SIN transit desk though

Hard to believe that I've clocked up the best part of 1M BIS miles on 740 flights and can't ever recall attending a transit desk to obtain a BP ... first time for everything. These things happen when you stick like mud to OW ... maybe I'll learn to like it and start being more adventurous

Should I on-line check-in for the QF flight as a precaution ... rock up to the T desk and ask for a printed BP?
