Does QF ever consider moving its SE and N Asian departures to a different time?

The majority of international airlines operating to and from both north and southeast Asia tended to originally have a morning departure ex Australia and an evening departure ex north or southeast Asia.

I say 'originally' because as time went on, the larger airlines added more rotations - for instance, ex MEL, SQ now has four flights a day each way (albeit with some announced future downsizing of aircraft from A380 to 773), MH has four and so on.

QF is a bit different. With its rerouting of LHR flights via DXB it has only one own metal departure a day on some Asian routes: SYD - NRT is one example, MEL - SIN, MEL- HKG and MEL - PVG are others. I am omitting codeshares or OneWorld partner airline options.

For SYD, the 2300 hours curfew has to feature in any timetabler's work. Elsewhere, this is not a constraint.

However does QF on its 'thinner' (less frequent) routes ever examine whether it would make any sense to alter the northbound departures to say BKK, NRT, MNL and CGK to evening departures ex Australia where there is only one a day or fewer from a particular Australian airport, and then operate a daylight flight back to Oz?

It makes sense to me that coming back, businesspeople and leisure travellers alike might like flights that land back in BNE, MEL, SYD and so on at 1700 to 1900 hours, which means the weary passenger can catch a train, bus, taxi or drive their own car home and after a while amble into their own bed, rather than arriving at 0600 to 0830 at a capital city airport and feeling not 100 per cent given the inability (even in J) to have eight hours' proper sleep on the plane.

Better and a greater number of connections in Oz ex morning flight arrivals from overseas may rule this out, but I for one would find it more convenient if more international flights to Asia from Australian airports departed at night. The airlines with fewer flights (including QF) have to choose whether they want a morning or evening departure at each end.

This is part of why I'd like to see QF get the 789's. They could use all the 330s as demestic wide bodies (transcon/golden triangle) and have enough 787s to run 2 rotations/day ex SYD and MEL to key Asian cities and have a day time and night time flight in each direction.

There is not enough domestic gates to take the 330s in larger numbers in the golden triangle.

On the flip side, I go up to Asia for a week of conference etc at least quarterly and when I want to come home, I don't want to wait until the following day. Get me on the plane overnight and get me home. Else I will lose another day in transit or half a day of the meeting which my employer won't tolerate. Keep it as it is aimed at Australians traveling to Asia for short periods rather than the other way around.
