Hey Fifa, I was in the lounge tonight too, she has a beautiful voice!

Is the live entertainment a new addition? It must be at least 6 months since I've been here...

Tonight at HSW there is an amazing female singer in the lounge - Sarah Frances Johnston (About - Sarah Frances Johnston).

A big bowl of prawns is on offer but I can't be bothered peeling them so I enjoyed the sushi and chicken sticks instead.

This afternoon I overheard a receptionist offering a couple an upgrade to an executive room - normally $110 but today it is $75. They declined.

Silly them. They probably don't know what they are missing out on

*shrug* Don't be too quick. If it's $75 per night, you would need to eat and drink a decent amount to make up that, even if you include breakfast in the EL.

Then again, to them, $75 could just be... $75 towards something else.

As a couple that's reasonable value, single it's a different story.

Assume the couple were not status? Seems that figure covers the cost of the lounge + a bit extra for a rainy day. I guess they have to clean and makeup a room regardless so probably a wise move to attempt the upsell.

Reasonable it may be, but I wouldn't be quick to slander a couple who turns down the offer.

indeed not. There are many times where I don't have time to go to lounges for evening canapes/drinks, they may have plans they may also be checking out early and could miss the breakfast entirely. who knows

Or they may think the standard room is more than adequate.

Matt

I'm going to book either an Executive room at HSW (and hope for an upgrade being Gold HHonors) or a room at Park Hyatt. Any recommendations? It's for my parents 30th anniversary! Thank you! :)

Suite upgrades are rare. I have stayed maybe a dozen times since hitting diamond, and have only recently had my first suite.

I know there is a common rumor that Hilton tends to upgrade by one room category ... and there is certainly some anecdotal evidence relating to this, but I don't know that it reaches as far as suite upgrades from the highest 'normal' booked, and _really_ unsure of this in relation to Golds (I'm gold too, never got a suite upgrade _ever_ at HSW).

More - at HSW in recent times, say the last year for me at least, I've found that even gaining an exec upgrade has sometimes required a bit of a haggle at the front desk.

I've booked suites outright at HSW and they are lovely - if you really want one, and think it will add to your experience, I'd recommend you just book one. Just be sure that the product you book includes exec lounge access as not all the suite priced rooms include access I don't think.

Been extremely lucky to have been upgraded to suites at HSW(as a lowly Gold) 3 times but nothing in the last 16-18 months. I think the good times are long and truly over.

There is still hope I'd say ... It's just a matter of asking ... As a (lowly Gold), was upgraded to a Yarra suite over Easter.

Good one. I've booked the Yarras before and they are very nice.

So, yes, always hope. I'm a big believer these days in booking the minimum room that I'd _actually_ be happy staying in though. Its always fun (for instance) to book the lowest room category and hope for an upgrade to something nicer and honestly, as a status holder, it very often does happen ... but not always, and if the lowest room type will make me unhappy then I've made a mistake if you know what I mean. You have to know the hotel already to make an informed decision here of course.

Sorry for bringing this very old thread back to life everyone, but does anyone have a contact email for HSW? I have a booking coming up and want to ask for a few things to be prepared. Haven't been able to find it on the website or any confirmation emails.

Thank You!

Thanks so much Moopere, Thats not coming up in my confirmation, how strange! View attachment 35419

My web snippet is from the HSW main web page :)

I agree, it does seem strange that there is no email address on the confirmation. However, if you click on the light blue highlighted "Hilton Melbourne South Wharf" seen in your web snippet, then it will link you out to the HSW main web page and from there you can grab the email address :)
