I struck this one today, but not even on codeshare... VA domestic flight with an international connection. No option to check-in online...even for the domestic sector.
What was most annoying, at the airport I asked if there were any options to get a seat with no-one beside (ATR72 only has 2 across.) Reply from VA CSR was that the flight was full, no chance. I had my suspicions as she didnt even look at the screen before replying. Anyway, onboard what do you know, lots of spare seats! Prob about 50% capacity. To add insult to injury, the gentleman seated in my row was invited to sit at row 1 since no one had purchased the exit row and they needed someone to sit there, but 3 other exit row seats were vacant!
So I understand the VA staff member's response "flight full, no chance" translates to "I couldn't be bothered checking" ... is this how VA usually treat their frequent flyers ?
