What is your intention in relation to your QFF membership?

What will you do?

I'll be staying but had already started to wind back my flying so I'll no longer be worrying about status. Snocone (SWMBO) bought me a senior QP life membership 10 years ago so if QF survives I'll always have some lounge access in Australia and will guest Snocone when we fly QF if the port has a QP.

Our bi-annual or tri-annual trips to see the grandkids in the UK will be J and sometimes F BFOD or more likely BICF (Best I Can Find) and status won't matter much there.

But isn't that a reason for going onto another airline and its OW loyalty program (say AA) now? (I'm assuming there is a fair bit of international in your flights.)

You'll still be able to enjoy the perks of QF Plat and OW emerald for over a year and in that time should be able to build status on the other program. Come Sept '15 hopefully you still have OW emerald and can continue to enjoy the QF Flounge etc.

Fair point. AA won't work for me, I couldn't get Exp with the way I fly.
Currently BAEC Blue so there's room to move there ;)

I am a lowly bronze QFF.
Have always chosen to fly Qantas to maintain points both domestic and international, all self funded.
I try to earn more points through credit cards and shopping. So I guess for now Qantas is the best fit for me.

Will stick with QF here for the moment.. most of my DOM flights aren't really affected, will see on the longer flights.. I'm about 12 months off LTG anyway so I may focus on trying to keep VA plat or let it drop to gold.. but then I'm still not overly sold on VA on the east coast runs that I mainly do.

Will be staying with QFF. My SC`s wont be affected on both domestic and international so will retain platinum, never used MASA`s etc. My flights to Asia will be better because upgrading to business will be possible on most tickets purchased with quantas. Schedules are the same if not I can adjust. A lot of emotional people out there at the moment hehe. Most of them it seems are the ones who cant get to platinum or retain it the cheaper way.

I used to have strong ties to QF with my father a retired QF 'job for life' employee and also being employed myself during a few uni breaks.
Measures progressively taken over the past 5 or so years has resulted in me going from an exclusive QF flyer, regardless of the ridiculous scheduling, to now nil using VA exclusively for domestic and EY, CX or SQ elsewhere.
Points earn had gone from 100% QF to been 80% other: 20% QF up to the end of online MASA's upon which it went to 100% others with the QF earn cards kept purely as backup.
The past six months has seen QStore take the majority of my remaining QF points leaving a small pool topped up by Woolies reward card.
I look forward to QF MK11 which this management team is certainly bringing forward it's timeframe.

Cant vote as although I still have a QFF account my primary program became AA in 2006.
2012 I began using SQ for redemptions via Amex points.
This year have booked LM redemptions for December.
So now will be spreading the love.

I am thinking of doing AA,

But that is mainly because we have a few US trips in the coming years so could be good for us.

I had already shifted most of my domestic flying to VA due to lower limits to attain status. In the most part I have been happy with VA.

As a result of a DSC offer and a few upcoming international J flights I'll soon have plat status with QF.

I have only booked a couple of YASAs for family holidays so don't really make use of them so won't miss them.

Rumours are that the company I work for will be switching exclusively to VA for domestic so that more than anything will dictate my primary FF program.

I'm about 3000 SC short oh LTG so that is really my only quandary.

Will be shifting and shafting most future flights to BAEC, given that there's more chance of a cheaper award there than here at QFF

I'll be staying. Always thought I'd move on after hitting LTG however, the ease of earning points and redeeming on CX, BA is perfect for us.

If I move away from QF it won't be to another OW airline. I'll be banking some of those points towards KrisFlyer and those delicious looking suites!

I'll be staying put for now but will definitely keep an eye on things. Will have a look at AA and CX to see what their programmes offer.

I don't like VA at all so that's not an option.

I'm staying, I really don't have a choice with where I live. If I move on I will need to fly REX and collect my bags in MEL and re-check in for 99% of my flights. For my circumstance it is a no brainer. I am lucky* that I am generally on flexi saver fares so the changes may even be in my favor.

*lucky is subjective - an average of 80+ domestic economy sectors a year may not actually be lucky?

i am typing this from the SYD FLounge (on a QFi flight) and I can see that some benefits still remain.

Steady

Hi - a noob question, but I have always linked by credit cards to QFF (haven't had credit cards for too long....)

1) Are there any credit cards in Australia that have a 1.5:1 earn to Virgin, or AAdvantage, or Asia Miles - or even SPG so I can then sweep over to Asia Miles? Similar to how my card at the moment has a 1.5:1 earn using Amex? The availability of such options will probably decide which program I will switch over to....

All I can say is, I personally do very nicely out of the changes; so I'm definitely staying!

Have been SG for a few years. Work travel (always domestic) has dropped off last 2 years and didn't holiday overseas last year so did 2 MASAs in addition to the work trips to requalify SG. Already booked domestic and international trips in 2014 should requalify SG through to Jan 2016, but doubt i'll maintain beyond that. My options then will be to pay up to join qantas club, or - and at this stage most likely what I'll do unless something changes - shift all my flying and ccards to VA. VA is usually cheaper but i've always booked the QF flights to use the lounges. If i've got to pay lounge membership anyway, VA is looking the better option once i'm no longer SG

I don't think we can move to BA unless we have a UK address, but I guess you can use a friends? That might be an option

i like using F lounges in US so would likely stay with QF or try for BA via a UK address

have yet to get LTG so would like that before maybe trying SQ

I live in OZ but also have UK address and Phone number happy to provide PM me

I've just requalified WP but under the new scheme, I have little chance of making it again. So I'll allow to drift to SG and later my LTS will take over.

I've stuck with QF through all their "enhancements" but I think this is the end. I'd like to stay OW so they may still get my few Red-E's domestically, but after that, it's off to CX.

Really is a shame that VA continue to bury their heads on *A. Possibly the growth is more than they can handle.

.
I'm not upset or surprised about the removal of MASA's. They were great value for points spend. To be brutally honest I don't see how anyone could think that flying around the country on multi segment day trips to the back of beyond to attain/maintain status was a sustainable strategy for either themselves or QF.

I fully agree...and I have been with this opinion ever since the day I finally worked out what a MASA is....(was..)
