Jetstar will quit flying from Auckland to Singapore from July, saying the route is not performing as well as it had hoped.
The budget airline is also facing the prospect of stiffer competition.
Jetstar started flying daily Singapore-Auckland services in March 2011, but this was later reduced to three times a week.
The airline is facing the prospect of greater competition on the route from the proposed Air New Zealand-Singapore Airlines alliance, which if approved will result in the New Zealand airline returning to flying its aircraft on the route and its partner moving towards using an Airbus A380 to Auckland.

Might be bad news for NZ, but it is good news for Melb/Bris.

"Jetstar says it will stop the thrice-weekly flights in July because the route isn't profitable and it will instead use the aircraft on flights between Melbourne and Tokyo, and between Brisbane and Bali."

Some would say having more JQ planes available could mean more QF route cuts replaced by JQ services...

I had booked SIN-AKL and AKL-SIN with connections to/from MEL (why fly direct?) on separate occasions when the flights were still operated by 3K. Both times they were cancelled and I ended up flying directly to/from MEL (didn't know about ORC then as it wad prior to my joining AFF). So now it won't be third time lucky after all... Oh well!

I have seen this on other threads.... what does '3K' mean?
