Hi,

I'm thinking about upgrading to business for my upcoming flights and I was wondering if it's better to use it for the Red Eye flight (PER–SYD) (and get some decent sleep) or enjoy the day flight back (SYD–PER) and enjoy the food and the comfort...

Cheers!

It's may be a case of personal preference and what you have planned for the day when you arrive.

However do keep in mind that you'll have access to the lounge prior to your upgraded flight. So food and comfort is a given either way. ;)

Unless you upgrade the PER leg which is only QP access instead

Except in Perth ;)

My vote is go with the return leg (SYD-PER) and enjoy the J lounge in Sydney and the day flight back. Service and food will be much better on that journey.

Are you able to secure an exit row in Y for the red eye ?

Still love ya Red Roo, I'm hoping its a Freudian slip and you have something to let us all know :)

Thanks ReLoad.

However, if my understanding of Freudian theories are correct, I don't think this forum is the place for sharing. ;)

Thanks for your posts - I appreciate it.

Perhaps I should've mentioned that I'm flying onward to Cairns, so I'll only have a bit of time (1.5 hours both ways) in between flights.

I managed to get an exit seat on the Red Eye, but it's a middle seat, so I'll be trying again closer to the travel date.

It seems that SYD-PER is the way to go (and somehow live through the Red Eye).

Cheers!

Well even Sigmund Freud said that sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. ;)

I say do the upgrade from PER-SYD, sleep is far more important than the food.

I might use the Invitation I have for the other leg anyway, as I'll be Gold soon after this flight, so I don't really need to save it for later...

The red-eye from PER is usually much shorter too, maybe 3.5hrs vs up to 5hrs from SYD, so not much time for a decent sleep, even in J.

I usually just fly to Kalgoorlie and back, so I thought I'd treat myself for my birthday... ;)

Oh, drat.

Domestic Upgrade seat not available

There have been well documented problems with the online upgrade facility in recent times. A quick call to the service team will fix that really quickly. (I had to make 4 requests today over the phone, only took about two minutes all up)
