Dec 07, 2010 JAL Opens First Class Lounge at Narita Airport Terminal 2 Satellite Building

JAL opened a brand new First Class Lounge at the NRT Satellite last month.

There are enhanced dinning, business facilities, showers, massage, etc just like the one in the main building.

Now QF WP passengers can take the train earlier and relax in the new F lounge instead of the one at the main building and catching the train later.

However, the 4th Floor F lounge in the main building has been shut, leaving only the 3rd Floor F lounge there.

Fourth Floor F lounge??? Is that on the same level as the CX lounge?

Never went to the 4th floor there myself, but I have seen posts referencing a stairway inside the entrance of the 3rd Floor First Class lounge leading to an "upstairs lounge".

These stairs were not obvious and may have been deliberately discrete or nondescript as there are indications it was a much quieter environment up there, possibly with better food.

It appears there already was a JAL Business lounge in the Satellite.

Awesome, I will be there in Feb, am so looking forward to this trip with F lounges.

My first overseas trip as a WP. :)

Perfect timing, I shall check this out on the way home next Sunday during my lazy 10 hour  stop over in Narita.

So I'm right in saying that as a WP with an onward QF flight that I can access this lounge, and don't have to go to the QF J lounge (the only lounge listed on the QF website)?

Looks nice from the photos, albeit a bit small to appreciate, and of course the real appreciation is in the real life experience.

Whilst I enjoy it much as comfort food I didn't know that beef curry rice constitutes something that commands acclamation. Mind you, most Japanese curries that I've had in lounges are usually just the curry "sauce" and hardly any meat (if there is meat, sometimes it's like chipped beef or something like that).

Yes; in the main terminal, the JAL one is to the right of the shuttle train station to the satellite after you pass emigration.
(Select "Tokyo (Narita) International")

When accessing the main JAL Flounge as an AA EXP we were taken to the 4th floor. When accessed with mrsdrron as WP we were directed to the 3rd floor.

So which was better?
4th floor.didn't have to wait for a massage!
Really didn't notice that much difference in food.
Definitely quieter though.
Thinking about it though it may not have been the status but the name.In the 12 months prior i had attended 2 in air medical emergencies on JAL as only medico on the flights.Had letters from the JAL president so maybe my name was tagged.

OH and I used this Flounge when departing on QF earlier this month. We weren't aware that it's new. Hardly anyone must know about it as we were literally the only people there. The check in agent simply told us to use my status to enter one of the JAL Flounges as the QP was very full, and we noticed the Flounge in the satellite on the map she supplied. It's very well-appointed with a separate dining area. The dining options weren't cook to order, and were more like a small buffet. I couldn't eat most things as they had shellfish ingredients in everything (even the innocuous sounding Tomato and Vegetable soup had shrimp bits and the Miso soup contained clams?!). Beverage spread was decent - a v nice Champagne Mansard rose, and some french reds and whites. Complete with Asahi beer pouring machine.

Ok well I am sitting in the new lounge right now. Me and 2 other people in the entire lounge at 4:30pm on a Saturday!

When I approached the desk the lady said "you are flying qantas, they have their own lounge" I engaged suck up mode and said "yes, but your lounge is much nicer" she smiled and pointed me to the F lounge.

First impressions are great, the lounge is quite large and the bar is very well stocked (and self serve). Not only jack Daniels, but wild turkey and a 12 year old tenessee whiskey that I can't remember the name of but that I will be trying. And they have Canadian dry Ginger as well ...

The toilets are like something out of a sic fi movie. Or a simpons epsiode. I kept waiting for it say "it is a pleasure to accept your waste".

Only negative so far is that entire lounge is decked out in "please don't use your phone in this lounge" signs. I retreated to the far corner to call my kids .. A lounge attendant spotted me, frowned but didn't say anything. It's not as if there was anyone else around for me to bother.

Will report back soon on the showers, food and massage if I can find it.

Edit: showers are great, best I've ever been in. Booked for a complimentary massage in 15 minutes. Tried the beef curry. Rice and sauce are very good, rich and spicy. The meat is questionable, there were quit a few pieces that were mainly skin/fat. Still very tasty, tempted to go back for more closer to my flight.

Asked about the new lounge when checking-in for QF22 on Sunday, but the agent said she knew nothing about it and simply advised us of the location of the 3rd floor main T2 JAL first lounge.

We went there first and the food and bubbly was as described in the previous posts. (Beef Curry very tasty! :D)

With an hour before boarding the two of us headed to the Satellite and increased the First Class lounge PAX population there by 200%.

It was very new and comfortable (made the main lounge look a little tatty). They have a closed off dining area with signs that food should not be brought out to the main area. There is a spiral staircase heading down to the Satellite business class lounge.

It had the same food as the other lounge so I had some more of the great curry and bubbles before heading to the window sofas to watch aircraft movements and await our flight.

More importantly, being near gate 92 it was a short90 second stroll from there to gate 82 where QF22 was departing. Gate 82 is also adjacent to the Qantas J lounge (we did not visit).

I am currently iN the main f lounge
I was about to head to the satellite lounge only to find it's shut!
I'll just have to hang here with the 8 others in here

The flight from shanghai was mostly full
The flight to sydney is full I gather
it's starting to fill up as there is a set of departures around 1700

There was an article in the paper about a 60% reduction in visitor numbers to Tokyo in particular
My wife even rang me when she realized i would be in Tokyo
When she heard abOut the aftershock last night
I didn't plan on being here but it was the only way I could get home from Jinan in time for junior delinquents first forty match of the season

Any reason why closed? Likely to fly QF22 this week.
